If the max is indeed on the table you up your offer in a s&t since no way melo can now leave that much money on the table. No player in history ever has.

Mirotic, 15 1st, sac pick, snell, Boozer for melo. id really hate to take back smith and really hate to give up toney, i think he has potential.

So we got used again to drive up the price. I'm really hating the 2003 draft class now.

There is no driving up the price Melo could've gotten it if he asked for it.

Apparently Windhorst said on ESPN2 that the Knicks have informally offered Melo the super max

Godammit Phil. I wasn't sure until now the Knicks really wanted him. Goddammit.

“I’m going to make money. I have money. I’m good if I want to retire right now,’’ Anthony said in a February interview on ESPN. “As far as the money, it don’t really matter to me. If I go somewhere else, I get paid. If I stay in New York, I get paid. As far as the money goes, it’s not my concern.

Moment of truth, Melo.

This is why I see him choosing us over NY.

Only Kevin Garnett (once), Shaq (twice), Kobe (twice), and MJ (twice) have made more than $26 million (the proposal's average salary) in any season. Only 13 players have earned more than $130 million total in their entire career, including Anthony at about $131 million career earnings.

Now compare Melo to the other players on that list. Dead last in terms of impact.

Melo fits here, because of what we ALREADY HAVE on our team.....defense, rebounding, MVP level PG. Otherwise, he's a flawed stud.
For love, not money.

I think this is true. I think Phil egged on Melo and when he came to Chicago, somehow word got back to NY that it was going well they panicked and showed their hand early. Really not a surprise.

Whoa now. Chances are he ended up "recruiting" in a large part because of all the bashing he received. It's also starting to seem as if that Noah tweet may have been directed at him. Either way, it's becoming pretty clear that the rest of the Bulls viewed it to be important that he actually participate in this process.

No point in saying that people jumped the gun. They didn't. He straight up said he wasn't going to recruit, and that's what people reacted to.

The bolded part is pure speculation and you know it. Can't just try and pass that off as fact. And Derrick said he doesn't recruit as a general rule, but it was also reported that he and his camp had already reached out to Melo (recruiting), yet people chose to downplay that little note. Bottom line, he recruited Melo when lots of people prematurely bashed him for not being willing to do so. They were wrong, they jumped the gun with the bashing.
Jerry Reinsdorf; the undisputed king of allowing his GM's to run amok with unchecked power and ego. :king:

Sorry but, if I'm Melo, forget winning...

I've WON!

130 mill for 5 years? I'd lose every year with a smile on my face.

Forget Miami, get the money Melo

Why are the negative nancies coming out of no where filling this thread with a "Melo is a money hungry scumbag" vibe?

He isn't but Amare leaves a scar, he would take less IMHO if he feels Rose is healthy. Hell roses stance on not recruiting but still showing up May mean something. Clearly the bulls don't want to gut the team or taj wouldn't have been there. No way they invite taj if they think they have to trade him. Bulls are taking a strong stance with that and I appreciate it and Melo likely does too.

So it's either money or winning.

We'll see by next week what Melo values more.

It could be dolan swooped in and requested it

Maybe the silver lining would be that it was done 'informally' allowing some time for knicks to line up solutions and rethink.

Carmelo still visiting with Bulls. Do they let him get on the plane without a verbal commitment?

Well if it's a choice between the Bulls and the Knicks and he decides to stay with the Knicks, I'm totally fine with that. Just as long as he doesn't go to another team besides us or the Knicks, I'll be OK with it - being that the Knicks will continue to suck anyway. So that would be punishment enough for him.

5 years 130 million...could be a smoke screen to get Melo to think for a second. That's what I'm hoping is the case anyway.
