If Melo is near the player some are suggesting here, they would have time to move him, especially to a city that has a hard time attracting FAs.
I am not one of those the think Melo is worth anywhere near the max, but for those that think he is a great player, and were willing to give him near max salary, by attaching multiple assets to Boozer, i a S&T, can not have it both ways.
Max starts him at 22mm and escalates 7.5% annually for the Knicks- if they offer the 5/130. The Knicks poster I quoted mentioned trading him down the road (after their 2015 plan?)- but after the 2015 season- he's damn near untradeable. I've never advocated a max for Melo- 18mm to 20mm per annum feels about right to me. Consider- also- that most players begin to decline at the age of 32 (at least offensively- which is Melo's wheel house)- and you would have a tough time unloading a 32 year old Carmelo still due over $80mm for tangible assets.
