It's pretty crazy that Rose worked out for Melo. I don't see how there could be any question about his commitment to getting Anthony on this team.

I mean I'm shocked he would agree to do that.

might want to green font that before we get a zillion responses asking the source or if it's true

Doesn't matter, Rose could have told Melo or anyone else "**** off!" The fact that he ran thru a gauntlet of events today is something I find either far-fetched or borderline insane.

I'm convinced that Derrick Rose is the hardest dude to figure out in sports. I just find it unbelievable that a superstar player (whatever he is) would agree to that. Biggest story of the day IMO.

Damn right. I've never heard of anything like this before. And its not a coincidence that Rose was just working out at the UC.

Maybe now this will teach people to not believe everything they read. The guy was all about winning before he got injured, and he still is. Just because you happened to hear sound bytes from his brother wasn't the end all be all and shouldn't have been an indictment on his character. This is totally consistent with what the guy has been in the past, and hopefully will be in the future.

People are "shocked" and "awed," they shouldn't be. He wasn't BSing when he said he was all about winning. He is probably praying like all of us that Melo comes here and he can finally win the title.

I call bull! Further injury? In a workout? Puhleez. I hope this was in green. (On my phone via Tapatalk, can't tell) :)

It did come from Alex Kennedy, so we'll see if anybody else picks up on it tomorrow. If he did do it, kudos to Rose. That's gotta be awkward, though.

greenl wrote:Max starts him at 22mm and escalates 7.5% annually for the Knicks- if they offer the 5/130. The Knicks poster I quoted mentioned trading him down the road (after their 2015 plan?)- but after the 2015 season- he's damn near untradeable. I've never advocated a max for Melo- 18mm to 20mm per annum feels about right to me. Consider- also- that most players begin to decline at the age of 32 (at least offensively- which is Melo's wheel house)- and you would have a tough time unloading a 32 year old Carmelo still due over $80mm for tangible assets.

2014-15 $22,458,401
2015-16 $24,142,781
2016-17 $25,827,161
2017-18 $27,511,541
2018-19 $29,195,921

Yeah.....Knicks aren't moving that contract.

If that story about the max is true, I have no doubt that was James Dolan's decision. He really likes Melo. Damn near gave up all their young assets to trade for him when all they had to do was wait for the offseason.

How much did that championship matter to Randy Brown when he had his ring on Ebay for auction a few years back?

There is a reason why NY'ers believe Carmelo won't leave. 130 million reasons.

Why take 70 when I can take a 100?

So then why were you on the Melo to Miami bandwagon then?

Yeah, it took a ton of pride being set to the side to do that. This is the mother of all recruitment as far as I'm concerned. One thing I am worried about though is that if Melo doesn't come (which is a real possibility) I highly doubt that Rose will ever recruit again. This is the type of stuff that could scar a person.

He did walk out of the UC carrying his shoes, and looking a little tired. I'd imagine it probably weighed on him, just a little.
