Best case in my eye is Lowry goes to Houston and Toronto starts courting Bosh hard. Makes it less likely LeBron returns to Miami. The more I hear the more I have to believe that if it's not Miami for LeBron, it has to be Phoenix. He's waiting to re-sign to see what moves the Heat make to be competitive long term, whereas Phoenix has a ready made supporting cast and money to spend on a FA of his choice. The ONLY other option that even makes remote sense is Dallas, but they seem to be focused on Melo as opposed to LeBron.

People might not be giving the Suns a chance to get Lebron. But after today's conversation with his agent.. The Suns are more optimistic than yesterday.

I don't know the details or what was talked about. But there IS a chance. I'll bring more detail as I get them. However, the Suns FO are very quiet and Are keeping everything close lid as they should.

Let me be clear!. I'm not reporting that we're going to sign Lebron. But we do have a punchers chance.

There's just no way I can see it happening. You might be right that Lebron could have us as a fallback plan but he's not going to go through with it.

Here's something I'd like some clarification on, would Lebron only consider signing here in order to pair up with Melo? As another poster suggested earlier, I have yet to see anything linking us to Melo other than the WojBomb which seems more like a piece based around convenience.

I'm curious because with Melo's meeting in Chi-Town reportedly going well, I'm doubting our chances to land Melo.

Gortat getting 5 years.

Either they already have Lebron's guarantee or they would be taking a HUGE risk signing for cheap and not contending without Lebron.

Wade and Bosh didnt take any paycuts, at least not yet. Their agent came out and said that the report from Oregon earlier was untrue.

What would you guys say to passing on Luol Deng and taking Shawn Marion on a one year flyer?

We could get him for likely 1/10th the price of Deng and he isn't an entirely dissimilar player. Last season Deng averaged 14 and 5 shooting 41%, Marion averaged 10 and 5 shooting 48%. Both are solid perimeter defenders.

Ray, I love how you get us info. Good stuff.

But I'm gonna agree with Charles Barkley on lebron. He really doesn't have but 2 choices. One stay in Miami or two back to Cleveland. I just think it's tooooo much of a PR hit for him to handle. Jumping ship again, not good on his part. I'm sure the suns felt good after a phone conversation and all but only lebron knows what he wants.

I just don't understand some of these posts about hurrying up and moving on in free agency. Whats the point of signing players just to have activity. Didnt we learn our lesson with the Warrick/Childress signings? Either sign who you want or save the space and fight another day.

You don't have to. It is a done deal if Lebron comes and everyone including Melo knows this. Melo is choosing his team based on Lebron staying, but if Lebron comes and he wants Melo....please...

Has anyone yet posted David Aldridges's tweet where Bosh and Wade's agent denies that either player is taking a big pay cut? Their agent basically says it's BS that is being put out there. It still seems a lot of smoke is being blown.

If Tucker is too expensive I wouldn't mind paying Shawn 2 years at like 7mil per. The contract isn't long enough to have a negative impact on us.
Plus, my Marion jersey would no longer be retro!

A couple people posted it a few pages back. It may not mean anything but I'll take the small victories :)

Agreed. After we lost Beasley, we haven't really gotten much national attention. Shame really.

LeBron opted out for two reasons: 1. To get a max deal and 2. to find the best chance to win a championship.

Bosh and Wade opted out because LeBron did. If LBJ bolts, and they opt in, they are stuck on a playoff team in the East with no chance of a title. Yes, max money eases some of that pain, but wouldnt it be better for Bosh or Wade to find pastures anew in that situation? If Chicago loses out on Melo, Wade might be a nice consolation for their fanbase (though the thought of a Rose/Wade backcourt is a trainers nightmare). Bosh could bolt for Toronto or even Cleveland and have roughly equal chances of winning as he would had he stayed with the Heat but with the added benefit of not having to hold LeBron's purse all the time.

Return to Phoenix Suns
