@NickFriedell: Bulls C.O.O. Michael Reinsdorf just walked out a couple minutes ago. Officials remain happy about how day's events unfolded.

The Bulls capped their presentation with a lengthy dinner at a downtown hotel in which Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen and Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf bonded with Anthony, sources said. Noah and Gibson also attended the dinner.

Though sources have indicated the Bulls would be aggressive in making necessary moves if Anthony verbally committed, the Bulls would have to amnesty Carlos Boozer and trade Mike Dunleavy, Jimmy Butler and Anthony Randolph for a starting salary of $16.9million.

lol i took it as "if he commits, then the trading begins"

S***, trading Jimmy would be quite the pill to swallow. I'm sure it would've been tough for Thibs to accept losing him.

Obviously we would lose leverage in trying to trade him, but what sort of asset's do you think we could get back for him? He is a very valuable player on cheap money, and will likely be seeking an affordable contract into the future as well.

People have been so hard on him the last few years.

Nothing funny about it, just down right sad. I hope this ends a long and depressing two years of uncalled for animosity towards him and people can move on.

I agree completely, it's hard being a Rose backer here, especially when he's not playing.

It's funny though, in its own way, that this one act by him can reconcile so much of that animosity though.

Not to derail what is otherwise a premature celebration of our imminent signing of Melo- but one could reasonably argue that the last two years have been one huge example of Rose not being a team player. He came through today- though- when the franchise needed him- he stepped up. I respect him for that.

eff this might mean that they are high on snell

or worse... KIRK????? the horror beginss

It's silly. Butler makes a whopping 600k more than Snell. Dump Snell before Jimmy.

Oh and also, that tweet says 'the Bulls would have to', so it's not necessarily saying they're doing it.

Give me JR Smith especially under control with Thibs

Rose / Kirk
Smith / BG7 (vet min)
Melo / McBuckets
Taj / Bairstow
Noah / Smith

Powerful team offensively

Screw JR he's useless. He will never be under control he is not Nate. Anyways make it McDermott+Snell not Butler. We still need an ace defender on Lebron.

Everyone keeps saying "Take down Lebron" or "Take down Miami"..

Miami has already been taken down. They ain't the Champs anymore.

I think he's always been a team player, but perhaps his personality/state of mind has inhibited him from doing certain things that would benefit the team.

The former is definitely a harsher critique.

Does kinda suck for Jimmy though if he's traded. His body took a torture from Thibs playing 40+ minutes nightly, just for us to say PEACE.

Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

I could live with dealing away Butler. He's entering a contract season and the team just might not want to pay him. In a world where Jodie Meeks is getting $6 million, paying Butler $8-10 million for 12 points in 39 minutes would be pretty bad.

Butler only makes 700k more than Snell.

There is no sense in trading Butler instead of Snell. Find that 700k somewhere else.

I'd like to keep Butler.

He's so damn cheap and basically a perfect foil for Melo.
