Man, it's hilarious they built it up like Rose wasn't gonna be there, then he was. It was like a WWE event or something. 'OH MY GOD?! WHO'S COMING THROUGH THE TUNNEL? IS THAT? IS THAT? NOOOOOO, IT ISSS!!!!!' And then Rose issued a one on one ultimatum to Melo to prove he could run with him. That must be how it played out.

McGraw clarified that he only meant those were the assets NY would likely be choosing from - not that they'd send all of them.

I think it speaks volumes that the teams that were represented in the finals this past season were both filled with players who all took paycuts. It needs to be done. Come on Melo!

All really depends on what Melo is willing to take. Won't be an issue if he literally doesn't care about money and is willing to take something like 4/64 or so (from what I've read). If he wants more, though, we'll have to move more players (Butler) or we'll have to S&T.

I like Butler, and am very hopeful for McDermott's and Mirotic's careers, but it's unlikely we keep all 3 in either scenario.

So Melo is legit about taking a pay cut.

Indeed. Melo caring about this stuff at all only makes sense if he is serious about Chicago.

If he was just using them to get a max from NY (which was never in doubt anyway push come to shove) he could care less about taking the charade this far.

And unless he is totally dense - and he isn't he has managers to crunch the numbers for him - he will also know that keeping these players will mean less than max for him, depending on what kind of S&T we can do.

This is very good news all in all.

I've been banging this drum for a while.

It's all about getting a handshake deal from Melo.

It's kind of weird. I've seen way more people throw #16 and #19 into trade proposals than I have seen people throw McDermott. It's harder now that we have a name to get attached to.
