People predicted he wouldn't recruit because he specifically said he wouldn't. On several occasions.

Scottie Pippen's response to whom he would pick for his running mate, Michael or LeBron: "That's a dumbass question. I've never done anything with LeBron. I wouldn't take LeBron to the movies."

It's all good man.....LaLa doesn't go on Bulls forums. You can speak freely.
Lol...
I'm serious though. She's cool as hell, got a great personality, loves hip hop, and still keeps herself busy compared to just mooching off of her baller husband. I actually know who Lala is besides just being Melo's wife, that's probably a reassuring thing for her that people can say that.
Grade A wifey material right there.

Yeah, Lala has her own career going on, TV show, movies, hosting gigs. She's not gonna stop Melo from leaving New York if it boosts his career and is something he really wants to do, just like Melo isn't gonna tell Lala she can't do a film or TV show she wants to do. If Melo wants to compete for a title next year and play for the Bulls then he'll be here and she'll be by his side.

You'd still have 5 million in capspace to offer Gasol or even Jordan Hill. No messing around with giving valuable assets to New York, and you can bring Mirotic over next summer.
PG-Rose/Hinrich (vet min)
SG-Butler/Snell
SF-Melo/McDermott
PF-Hill/Brand (vet min)/Bairstow
C-Noah/Kaman (BAE)/Smith
Isn't this a title contender? I understand the ideal scenario of landing Melo in a sign and trade. I want that too. But Houston couldn't pull it off last year with Dwight, and I'm not willing to lose Melo if New York flat out refuses to negotiate like the Lakers may have last off-season.

Seems like much.
WAY too much.

He's definitely talking about a combination of those asset's. If not, the Bulls say HELL no.

It will probably be some, but Melo not going on live TV for 30 mins and then proclaiming about it being easy and winning not 3, not 4 etc will significantly help.

He had an incredible 2013-14 season. All NBA 1st team, DPOY, and now, potentially being one of the drivers in this recruiting process.
This man bleeds Chicago, and it's clearly evident why he is so highly valued by the organisation.
