Define embarrassing. Perhaps offer some examples from your team(s)?

Read my post above. I will edit and remove the embarrassing part from my initial post.

I think a lot of people, maybe most, are 50/50 or less on expecting Melo to actually come to our franchise. Personally, I expect him to remain with the Knicks and their larger offer.

I don't think any of the Heat reports like Lebron wanting the max...etc. have been confirmed true. What are they really after?

Yea how embarrassing it would be for Melo to sign with anyone else. Especially the ball dominant players on the Rockets.

My post is not meant as I dis to Chicago or the Bulls. I'm not posting in here to start crap. On all accounts I like Chicago and the Bulls. Joakim plays with heart and so does Rose and I like that. Bulls are a gritty team. With that being said I think you guys courted Melo very well, but in the end I don't know if it will be enough. Someone who knows Carmelo told me that he is still all about the money. So my contention is not against you guys but against him. I personally think Houston is good on the offensive side of the ball. We need more shooters and better lock down defenders coming off our bench in addition to a starting stretch four. Melo does not solve the Rockets problems. If you guys can land Anthony then hats off to the Bulls and its fans. Double hats off to you guys if you can beat the Heat. Good luck in free agency Chicago from a real basketball fan in Houston.

Fair assessment. I hope you are wrong about Melo. I think you are right about what HOU needs. If HOu had role players liek Taj and Butler wow, they would be scary. I dont see Melo as a good fit there.

You've posted 3 times so far on realgm and where do you do it? Here on the Bulls forum. What team are you for "really"? Too "embarrassed" to post as a Knicks fan perhaps?

To answer your original question (the one you deleted), no we wouldn't be embarrassed at all about the effort put forth to try to land a player who averages 25 ppg. This is how it's done in the modern NBA. If we fall short, I actually doubt there will be much if any finger pointing or bad feelings. Nearly everyone on this forum would understand if Melo gets the super max to stay in NY and he decides to grab it. He's an exceptional ball player and deserves what he's able to earn.

However, it wouldn't quite jive with his claims that he has enough money now and winning is what he wants most. We'll soon see which is his priority. It's those comments that are making us think he just might jump ship to a winning organization, not some delusional optimism we should be "embarrassed" about later..

Let's be real, people spent the last 48 hours sullying Derrick's character and integrity over something that didn't even happen. I'm sorry, but folks deserve to get called out for that. As was reported, Derrick and his camp had already reached out to Melo, there was no reason to believe he wasn't part of the recruiting efforts just because of a generic, throw away line about not recruiting. It's all good though, glad Derrick, Jo and Taj stepped up, hopefully we see Melo in a Bulls uniform.

That's a load of bull. People reacted to a very poorly timed comment directly from his mouth. I firmly believe that all that outrage helped get him into the meetings today. Rose was killed all over the internet and radio for his comments. Now all of us here are Bulls fans, and everyone here wants what's best for this team - and what's best for the team is that Rose is part of it (on and off the court). To suggest that people get some sort of high from "sullying his character" is such a bad misrepresentation of this fan base. We're a passionate group. Let's not turn on each other with stupid accusations just because there is a disagreement.

Now we've heard that Rose not only showed up to the dinner, possibly worked out for Melo, and dropped by dinner. That's outstanding news and shows that he is firmly invested in the team's future. It's great to see that he made that effort, and it very well could be the difference.

Does he even have to come in today and work out at all, if he didn't scare the crap out of the world with his Team USA comments?

The Bulls can make up most of the monetary imbalance by negotiating a sign-and-trade with Jackson, who was hired a few weeks ago. It's possible Jackson just says no to any sign-and-trade, but there actually a couple of scenarios that might make sense for the Knicks.

The Bulls could send an asset or two to New York, then combine the traded players and cap room created by using the amnesty clause on Carlos Boozer.

A second option is to trade Boozer to the Knicks with some other pieces and take back J.R. Smith and Pablo Prigioni along with Anthony. Such a trade would give New York more than $50 million in cap room for 2015 because Smith and Prigioni are signed for two more seasons.

Is McGraw the only media person who has finally begun mentioning this option? I know nationally, all I hear are il-informed things we blew past weeks ago as a group

Can I formally pitch a new VH1 show called "LaLa and Larsa"? The show chronicles LaLa's move to Chicago. And follows Lala and Larsa doing whatever they do, around the Windy City.

That should persuade LaLa to ok the move! She can have a place in both cities anyway if she really wants.

On it. I'll start by following them around w a camera. For the team.

It's shocking to see and read how many times all these alleged NBA writers continue to spew out the fact that the Bulls can only give 15 million per year, without mentioning any of the other options available to get that number up to a more respectable number.

It's laughable that these guys to get paid to write about the NBA and yet they can't be bothered or lack the knowledge in regards to these matters.

What did he say?

When he first started and appeared on the scene several years ago he seemed extremely happy-go-lucky and was always up beat doing these Bulls news reports, but these days he seems so grumpy and doesn't seem to enjoy what he is doing as much as he used to.

Throughout this process, nothing has irritated me more than these 'analysts' and their lack of knowledge of the cap.

Even the basic stuff would allow you to know that cap space is not the only route. The amount of times i've read that we can only land Melo via dealing Taj, it makes me want to hurl.

Extremely frustrating.

I agree and it is NOT just sports media. It is almost all of the media. They are very sure about what they "know" but a lot of what they "know" isn't even true. Long ago I was considered an expert in a very very limited subject (and was invited to testify to Congress, participated in a DOD roundtable, talked with the CIA, DIA, etc.) and KNEW a subject in and out and the media was always reporting it wrong. I called the AP and other outlets and talked directly to the reporters. They refused to change their story and were very hard headed about letting anything other than superficial information on the topic enter their brain. They aren't all they are cracked up to be.
