Knicks fans need to keep the capspace scenario in mind. Chicago isn't going to give up significantly more than Gibson and Dunleavey. There is a top cap on the value Chicago will send out. Giving up significantly more than that's foolish.

If Melo demands it and NY demands it, then screw them both. Lance Stephenson here we come.

Apparently trading Chandler and Felton for Calderon's long term deal and a second round pick has got them thinking Phil can move mountains.

I think discussing trades for Melo is a bit foolish on both Bulls and Knicks fans part. If he tells the Knicks he wants to be a Bull the Bulls will find a way to get him what he wants. It will then be up to Knicks on whether or not they want to be a part of that pathway or not. It is possible the Knicks say they will just let him walk away like the Lakers did to Howard. However, I'm telling you a lot of people learned from the Lakers mistake last year. They probably could have gotten Asik and Terrence Jones via S/T last year for Howard. It would have great helped their chances this coming season. It is game of poker and we will see who blinks first...game can only be played though if Melo wants to join Bulls.

Knicks fans clearly think that the only players with value are the one's who have played in the NBA and put up some type of numbers already.

Example: Melo is a consistent 25-30ppg scorer every year. Obviously he is worth every asset the Bulls have because none of them have ever done squat in the NBA numbers wise.

Mirotic, Mcdermott, Kings pick, Bulls pick, and some second rounders. That's fair right? Actually no, we're the knicks we're entitled to at least 1 player with NBA history. We'll just take that scrub Jimmy Butler, he only avg about 8 or 9ppg. Being elite defensively is worthless. Be happy we'll even give you all JR Smith. He can get you 20 or 30 every now and then.

We're going to get a sign and trade with New York, because I'm still convinced that Jackson doesn't actually want Melo there. He'd rather free up the money and get a little something extra as well. Our work is going to come in with either getting NY to take Boozer, or having them sign off on a 3-way deal where someone else takes Boozer and they get other assets.

That seems like a lot for a guy that we can sign straight up (albeit a lower number). If Melo does say "I am going to Chicago". The Knicks (or Phil) are smart enough to know what they can or can not get. He will get something but nothing historical in value.

Knicks fans just think that since they got fleeced for Melo its only fair they fleece someone else. What they don't realize is that not every organization is as terrible as the Knicks are or were...

not saying I would propose the above trade (think that is too much as well) - you can keep McDermott.

But Melo isn't going to Chicago without Taj. That has been pretty clear. So it would be no Melo for you as well.

I think if you were to let us keep McDermott and take a pick away you would get closer to a realistic trade.

The sac pick is extremely heavily protected. And sending Boozer contract out (using last year GSW trade as an example took 2 1st's and 3 2nd's).

So lets say sending boozer out to a 3rd team would will take Your 2015 pick (swap with Cavs) + Sac Pick + a couple 2nd rounders (seems pretty fair).

Now S&T for Melo still would be required to get him his 20+ million (close if not 22 million). The trade would basically be Melo + JR for Mirotic, 2017 1st round pick, Butler, fillers. (seems pretty fair as well).

So if the knicks were willing to combine both trades to simplify the deal instead of going to a 3rd team and getting you the max for Melo in terms of the 125% trade kicker to send out more money in Melo's S&T.

The bulls would also get there exemptions and get to keep McDermott, Snell and bird rights to DJ Aug as well for depth purposes.

The key point here. The Bulls have other options. No way they have a gun to their head, even if they love the idea of Melo. The Bulls have already indicated they have limits. Its not Melo or bust for the Bulls.
