Maybe Dwight can do a private work out for Melo and show him his post move (not a typo)

Its hard to develop new post-moves when you've got 13 or 14 of your kids running around at your feet.

Other than Windhorst has anyone else reported the Knicks will offer the max? I find it strange Knick fans keep thinking Carmelo won't turn down the max when chances are that hasn't been put on the table. Surely the Knicks would be leaking to every media outlet known to man they fully intend to give Carmelo the full max but Windhorst mentioned it so casually and no one has followed up on it.
Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

I don't see Melo going to Houston. Him, Harden and Dwight will be too much ball hogging. Also, if they get Parsons with that group. That's going to be like Miami. Good starters, poor depth...and the Spurs will pass them off the court.

Please stop polluting our forum with these terrible trade scenarios. I stopped reading the Knicks forum to get away from the delusional posts.

If you don't think Mirotic Butler and picks is worth signing Melo to the max to make him happy then you obviously disagree in terms of how good Melo is.

That is fine. But he is worth that, trust me. If you get him you will see.

If you get mirotic, then that's it thats all you get of most valued assets......your not getting butler too.....if your lucky the bulls may take jr off your hands

After days of seeing articles, I am now sure that Anthony is not coming to Bulls, If the Bulls could amnesty Boozer and trade Dunleavy, Randolph and the unguarenteeds and get 17-18 million I would say he would come, but because of the weirdo rules they can only free 13-14 million after doing that? Not gonna happen. And Bulls would be dumb to trade Butler and Mirotic, to young, cheap good players just to get an aging Melo. Kinda glad as signing older than 30 players to big money deals never works out, but team is gonna look alot like last years, as usual all this excitement and no big name free agent is coming.

Now, I expect the Bulls to start making the necessary moves. By the end of the weekend or next Monday, it will be official that they have the agreement in place.

Maybe, I'm just being naive but I'm really excited!

Me too. 9 hours with the Bulls and Houston/Dallas in the same day? Bulls and Melo knew the numbers on the table BEFORE they met. Yesterday was a formality.

Butler, Dunleavy, Mirotic, and a 1st. Sign Pau with the MLE.

<drops mic>

I don't think we'll give up on Butler AND Mirotic/McBuckets. I think one of Mirotic\McD, alongside Boozer and 1 or 2 first's will be enough. We still might have to move MDJ somewhere.

If we send Mirotic we can have Pau with the MLE I think, as long as he doesn't want to sign for the Heat or the Thunder.

I'm just saying that Butler's absense yesterday is a strong signal he's not in future plans. If the Bulls get Melo, how is he going to be extended?

If the Bulls amnesty Boozer, S&T with Butler and Dunleavy matches to $20.3M for Melo.

Pax would throw Butler, Mirotic and a 1st like Sonny Corleone after trashing the camera outside the wedding. Here's hoping he spits on the ground too.
Honesty is my only excuse.

You really can't compare 4 years to 5 years. You have to compare 4 to 4. Yeah, there's some risk that he doesn't get paid in year 5. But chances are that he will be making significant money. If he's still playing at a high level then, a full 20. So it would be a $40 million dollar difference...

Ifyou factor in potential increased endorsements due to the buzz of a move and more projected success (because the Knicks are starting over and who knows what they could get next year in FA - possibly striking out like in 2010, pre-Melo) along with taxes and some other factors (cost of living), that 40 million might not actually mean a lot in real terms with respect to his earnings.

You know how crazy expensive NY is, especially at the super high end. Chicago is way cheaper (for a giant city that you can drive and hour and still be in).

I don't know how Melo will look at it but if he is healthy, he should opt out after 3 years. He would probably be able to ink a relatively good 5 year deal at age 33.

The issue with NY's extra money is the security it represents. If he has a bad injury, he still gets his money. If he is healthy and has a normal Paul Pierce type decline in his 30's, the difference in money is rather small.

.....

I feel I should repeat this every once in a while. NY is the favorite for Melo. In the off chance that he wants to come to Chicago, Knick fans are drastically overestimating their leverage.

Couldn't he sign a contract with an ETO after 2 years? If so if he does that would we have his bird rights? Assuming we do couldn't we "make up" for the lost money to start with a max declining contract for the following 3 or 4 years?

That's mostly what he is going to do. He needs to play somewhere 3 years to get bird rights but after that he should opt out. 4 year deal with a player option for year 4 in chicago. In NY, a 5 year deal with an ETO in year 4 and a player option in year 5.

nobody even knows what the bulls offered. This is like the "bulls are pessimistic about signing Anthony" before they even meet reports.
