It's melodramatic to use a bible quote in his situation, he's being paid millions to play a game and he's famous and beloved by millions of people.
Jesus never concerned himself with people such as that
Jesus converted a reviled Jewish tax collector into one of his apostles. That's not to say Morey is reviled, but he is in a position of authority as the Rockets' GM just as Matthew was as a tax collector for the Roman government.

Got to include...

How does it sound like Houston has him lol.
Just the way things sound I guess on twitter, and clutchfans.
I can't see Melo passing up Bev, Harden, Parsons, and Dwight just to avoid the West.

Simmons always gets a bee in his bonnet when he thinks teams are cheaping out. See his nonstop flogging of the OKC Harden trade. He often makes good points in his rants, but just as often he exaggerates or forms a biased view of what actually happened. So Simmons has the "Reinsdorf is cheap" meme burned into his brain. Oh well, he's not the only one.
In any event, it's no particular talent to talk about how you'd spend more of other people's money than they are.
Dude I wouldn't cut Simmons any slack. He makes a lot of money to talk basketball and ignorance to the history and facts of the topic he is discussing is not forgivable.
Look at a guy like David Aldridge who doesn't go over the top with criticism and has decent to excellent knowledge of almost every team. He also doesn't just make sh%t up if he doesn't know he says so.
Getting a little OT but I blame ESPN for elevating Simmons' profile by putting him on TV so much more and holding him out like he's a real pundit/journalist, than I blame Simmons. He was good in his niche as superfan/writer/goofball and he put together a (mostly) great team of writers at Grantland. That's all he should be doing, IMO.
anyway. Melo, rah rah!!

No it doesnt. They can amnesty Boozer and send the unguaranteeds and Dunleavy and such and end up at around 18-20 mil for Melo's first year.

I don't know Melo, but a friend of mine does. They hung out yesterday. I'll tell you at 6 if #Bulls are getting through to him @670TheScore.
Laurence Holmes is seriously the worst.
Exact same thought I had.
And when he talks about females, particularly other reporters, the creep factor is SO high.

Per CBA rules you can't use a trade exception on a free agent even in a SnT.
Teams cannot use trade exceptions to sign free agents; they can be used only to acquire existing contracts from other teams. However, a team can acquire a free agent using a trade exception if he is signed by his prior team and traded in a sign-and-trade transaction (see question number 90).

S&T for Lowry (at 12) for Jones, D-Mo, Beverly, Caanan leaves $9.1M after cap holds. S&T for Carmelo (at $20M) puts them $10M over the cap, $2.9 under the apron. Can they resign Parsons and go over the apron for any amount? If not, he'd get $5.3M to get up to the apron amount with 7 cap holds.
Of course this doesn't even factor in salary matching and assets needed to send to Toronto and New York to make it happen.
Morey may be good but can he really fleece Phil and Masai like that?
You can't sign and trade a 20 million dollar contract into 10 million in cap space.
If they turn the Asik trade into part of the S&T, they could do something like, Asik, Jones, Montejunas, Beverly, and Canaan for Melo (starting at about $17M), and Lin for Lowry (starting at 12M).
They would have $64M committed to Melo, Harden, Dwight, and Lowry, which gives them a lot of room under the apron to pay Parsons and vet mins.

Melo said he wouldn't accept $15mil a year here?
I trust that to be true given the way he insisted NY gut its roster so he could get the max before, but weren't there also reports he wants the Bulls to keep Taj and Butler?
I hope to keep Taj, and to a lesser extent Butler, but for both reports to be a reality would make things pretty tricky it seems.
