realgm doesn't make the app, tapatalk does. The only way you will ever see an and1 feature is if Realgm makes their own app or tapatalk adds a karma type system that realgm adopts.

This is a Tapatalk based app, there are Tapa based apps with an and 1 type system, so it is possible.

I understand time is probably the biggest factor, but it seems someone who posts extremely frequently, and probably adds more to discussions than most, is much more likely to be punished despite being a higher quality poster than a random ballboy who has posted five times but already received a warning. I mean two warnings in a year (I believe that's the policy?) isn't much leeway when someone is posting 20 times per day.

Posting volume is not considered; all posters are obliged to follow board policy.

Edit: also, how do you get a third gen board warning with only reading access?

It's rare, but if a poster appeals Read-Only Access and gets another strike, that's Strike Three.

More like a technical foul....

Personally I would like the limit of times you can And1 during a day but I know that there is some programming issues that would make it hard to implement.

How do you plan on growing the site and attracting new users to the site so each team
in each sports message board is very active?

I feel like the GB rules are too strict right now and enforced inconsistently. I see posts that have had users suspended previously, allowed to slide. Is that because some mods are lenient and some are not? That's not really good if it ends up being to the luck of the draw. Compared to last year's playoffs, the game threads were a lot more empty it seemed and not as fun. I totally get not allowing trolling or flaming but the GB seems to stifle any sort of personality. That's not very fun.

Also if its going to be so strict then fine but can't it be made so that it takes 2 strikes before read only access. To me the GB used to be really awesome but now it's like why even bother when a little thing will get you on read only access. The Raptors forum is just way more fun now. Sure I get insulted and trolled once in a while but it's the internet and you gotta have thick skin. I just ignore a user if he is out of control. A lot of the users don't even bother with the GB now because of the rules which is a shame. There were a lot of really good posters I enjoyed reading before the new rules and I don't see any of them on the GB anymore. Is that really a good thing?

Tsherkin my other warnings are the equivalent of forum parking tickets. Here is the list

December 2012 - 2 for language
Jan 2010 - bumping a thread
Jan 2010 - Posting on the Miami board that Jermaine O'Neal's jumpers are a bad memory
Dec 2009 - I don't remember and the link won't work but the PM says material that's not allowed. This may have been posting a full article instead of a blurb
Dec 2009 - Posting IBTL

None of those were on the General Board either

I understand if RGM has a hard line policy about number of infractions but the Gen board has a lot more to worry about than me

The rules are there for a reason, DrP. Your opinion of the strength or severity of the warnings you were issued is irrelevant. You broke the rules, and you've established a consistent pattern of doing so over your time on RealGM. The consequences you've faced reflect those facts.

This is pretty straightforward stuff. There is a specific provision in the GB policy which prevents a poster who has reoffended on another board after being put on ROA from having their appeal considered, and that has been the case with you. There is little else to say on the topic.

Lest we forget, your GB warnings were for baiting, personal attacks, backseat moderating, abuse of the report function and personally attacking a moderator. You also have negative comments on your profile from nearly a half-dozen moderators across the boards, and an informal warning on the PC board.

You do not have a leg to stand on here.

Care to show me where in the policy that's listed? viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1201431 Are you referring to this

If a request is denied, the user will be able to appeal again in 60 days provided they have no other violations during this period anywhere on RealGM. If they do, the appeal date will be 60 days since the last violation occured outside of 60 days.

Because that clearly doesn't apply. I received an infraction within 60 days of the read only access ban, but this above reads that this only prevents an appeal for the next 60 days after that

If RGM's policy that posters with warnings in the past on other boards can't get considered for reinstation, I'd suggest putting it in the GB policy because right now it isn't clear that a policy starting in mid 2012 would be affected by posters getting warnings on other boards in 2009 and 2010. The tone of the policy is as if everyone gets a blank slate.

Yes it clearly says in the GB policy why I was banned with a one and done fashion instead of a warning. I don't see where reinstation is off the table after 18 months of infraction-less posting and 0 other personal attack-level warnings in my history

Read only access.

I think the biggest thing to understand is that RealGM is allowed to govern themselves however they like. You can hate some of the strict rules on the GB (I don't like them as much as the next person) but if that's how they want to do business so be it. The best people can do if they want to post there is just accept it or go somewhere else. Other boards aren't so stringent as long as you don't bait the fan bases.

During my own time away from the GB I've had a nice time posting in other team boards, is it ideal, not really but you get a good outlook from others. If you want to post like a mad man try the off topic board, all users (including mods) are lenient and it's nice to relax there.

This is considered baiting. This is your only warning.

EDIT: Wait...how many warnings do you already have against your record? Wow.

I would love to hear a response to this from Howard and any of the mods/veterans:

Why do you think RealGM has survived in the new age of social media?
What will it take to survive the next 5 years?

Needless to say Boards and forums were an integral part of the internet's beginnings, but the majority have since died off. In that recent Carl2680 article on CBS, they spoke of this board as if it were something archaic - a museum article, preserved for every one's amusement.

And yet here we are, active and blossoming. Are we growing, or does it just seem that way?
Why has this board survived so long, when this medium has been deemed a relic of the earliest days of online sports discussion?

Not a mod or a veteran but that's an interesting question. My feeling is that online boards are still thriving and I haven't really heard or read that online boards are dying. IMO they are a part of social media. People still want to talk about their interests online in a more detailed manner. I think online forums will always be around where people can discuss their interests (whether it be NBA or something else).

Even Third Strike GB board bans leave open some room for a poster to be permitted to return. Permitted, though, DrP, not automatically restored because they want it. The committee which votes on Read-Only Access Appeals has to agree that a poster is of sufficient value and unlikely to reoffend, or they won't come to a consensus allowing that poster to return.

Alright not exactly sure where to ask this but,I cant seem to post anywhere I have tried except on the magic board. I assume this is the 100 day waiting period I read about. I also got a PM that I cant reply to, is this something similar to the 100 day waiting period or am I just flat out missing a reply button?

inconsistency of moderation is by far the biggest problem with this fourm, as well as mods that target particular fanbases. as stated earlier in this thread, at least half the Bobcats regulars are banned from the general board and the other half ignore it because we are tired of being targeted for suspensions. And its all from the same moderator.
