The Bears are not contenders . I don't see them beating the Seahawks or 49ers . They are the two best two teams in the NFC

They made some great moves on the defensive side of the ball. Their offense was top 3 in football. They are definitely contenders, especially with the crapshoot the NFL playoffs can be.

Phil Emery an the Bears have done an outstanding job. Offense is outstanding an the Defense should be really good this year too. Injuries......kills teams. Bears are contenders imo.

If the Bears can stay healthy and their upgrades (and returning players from injury) can get the defense to at least average rather than worst in the league, they are absolutely contenders with that offense.

Pau Gasol is not playing for the MLE. I like Gasol, but its going to take more than a few million dollars to sign him. Unless Garpax has some mind control powers I don't know about.

Voice of reason here. This makes Adam Silver happy though.

It's Windhorst who is allegedly reporting that Gasol's #1 choice is to come to the Bulls with Melo.

I think the 49ers and Seahawks are great, but the NFL comes down to such randomness and injuries. I would actually give it 50/50 odds one of those two teams misses the playoffs next year.

The other may win the superbowl too. You just never know.

The nfl and NBA can't be compared. There is so much pairity in the NFL the nba is different. The bears are contenders. Every team is.

That nucleus blows.

Well its unproven rebuilder

I think Hardaway proved himself somewhat last year but yes Mirotic , Early and Larkin are all unproven

Having said that I do like Early and I reckon the Knicks got great value here in the draft . Early and Hardaway give them some good toughness and Mirotic will be their featured scorer. Larkin had a great run last year and is a sensational athlete and is quick as all hell ...

Anyway they'd keep mining the draft for the next few years and try and get lucky organically ...have a crack at Durant when he comes due etc

Rondo would be a mistake and I can't see Love going there while they're rebuilding and no real playoff prospects or at least deep playoff prospects
"GarPax played Grab Ass with Mirotic for 5 years and been in Omaha playing Hide the Salami with Doug McBuckets for the 1.5 years and they've developed feelings for him. Well, I say "F feelings and F loyalty!" I want CHIPS! Jerry Krizause

I think Calderon would ultimately be a decent package for a team like Orlando ( Calderon's shooting balancing out Oladipo and Payton as well as providing a steady vet presence

Building through the draft and setting up for Cap Space

I think this is the reality for a team like the Knicks ...going hard after 2nd tier free agency talent and trading away draft picks as they have in the past just hasn't worked out

Its hard because NY is an unforgiving place and has its demands , however , they are a franchise - just like the Lakers where the old rules ( I don't believe ) will apply anymore

They're back in the pack with everyone else and needing to be patient and build smartly through the draft and then see if you can strike it lucky with a great core that a Top 10 talent(s) may want to join in free agency

That is an awful nucleus. Awful

It's a good nucleus....for a bench mob

Finally giving Cutler a offensive coordinator he can work with for more than 1 year has been huge.....gotta have that Packer chemistry out there. Switching O Coordinators every year was setting us back imo.

Pau Gasol Addendum No. 1: Sources say Bulls' rising interest in Pau IS indeed reflection of concern they can't convince Melo to leave NYK

I'd say he sucks as a host, but I would really at the very least hope that he wouldn't make that story up about his friend out of thin air.

one thing to take into consideration, next years FA batch is BIG. Some teams who might be in the running for Melo this year might want to keep their powder dry for next year. I could see the NYK's falling into that category, Houston also. LA FOR SURE
