Where is this coming from, just because of this insignificant Lin crap? Besides the Spurs and Lakers (who's ironically down right now), no other teams has been consistently "CLUTCH" in the last 15+ years. What's your point? So why don't you take it out your @ss and choke on one, Troll.tbytc wrote:red96 wrote:Do your research youngster, because it has everything to do with those two championships.Froob wrote:Why is Houston Clutch city? Yah after those 2 championships and Olajuwon Era, they just made it to second round once for the last 15 years and 8 years missing playoff.
So clutch.

Not Lin's fault Knicks didn't match the contract.
No one in their right minds would've matched that abomination of a contract!
I agree if Lin wanted to be in NY he wouldn't have signed the "poison pill". There is a difference between getting good offers your company / team can compete with and expecting them to match or at least get close to the offer its completely different to bring them something you know they can't match, in that case you made a choice to chase the money and it's not your previous team / companies fault you left.

From everything I've seen he's been disrespected during his time in Houston. He deserves better

Not to mention that the Rockets as much as anyone have been bitten with the injury bug especially with Yao who had to grow in the American game and against NBA talent finally was on the verge of being a dominant force that could carry them AND they put a good team around him and then his career was over in the blink of an eye. The fact that they nearly beat those same Lakers on a team carried by Ron Artest with Yao and McGrady sidelined shows how deep they were with quality "clutch" roleplayers and were just bitten by bad luck more than anything. Completely ignorant view by the OP in the quote. Not that I know why Houston is clutch city, or that I think it is, but just that I wouldn't go banging on the Rockets for being a poorly run franchise when they have obviously been one of the absolute BEST.

Exactly. Lin would've made good money in NY and made a KILLING off endorsements. He chose the guaranteed money from Houston. if the Knicks had matched that money, it would've crippled an already hobbling salary cap!

If Isaiah Thomas leaves Sacramento, I think Lin could be a good fit there.

Honestly not surprised at all considering Lin's short history with the Rockets thus far.

Morey job is to recruit the best player available for the team
if he has to care about everyone feeling he can't do his job
he did it last year with Pat Beverley #12 for Dwight Howard
he did it few years ago with Luis Scola #4 for Chris Bosh
those two don't seem to have a problem

The Knick refused to offer him anything at all. They gave him a QO for near vet min to make him a RFA and that was it. They told him to go out and test the market and bragged about matching up to a billion dollars.
How as he supposed to sign with the Knicks if the Knicks refused to make him a single offer?
It's not like he had an offer from the Rockets and one from the Knicks and then chose the Rockets. He had zero offers from the Knicks. They didn't even try to lock him up before he even reached free agency. All he had were the brags in the press about matching up to a billion dollars. Meanwhile Felton is at Dolan's BBQ.
If he didn't sign the "poison pill" contract, what contract could he sign? There was no 2nd contract in front of him.

He "chose" to sign the only offer on the table. The Knicks never made him an offer, unless you count the near vet min QO.

At that time, Harden wasn't there when they pursue Lin, and there wasn't other star players who would take the ball away from him comparing there were Melo, Jr in New York.
So basically Rocket offer lin more money and better chance to prove himselfs, and it is very stupid to turn down that offer.

Melo is wearing #7
you want him to feel like home so you put him in #7 jersey
how will he feel if he see he's wearing #8?
if Morey is recruiting LeBron James and put him in Rockets #6 jersey
do you think Terrence Jones will have problem with it?

No one here is claiming about retiring that number here.
And what does the rest you said have anything to do with the things happened today?
The point is Lin isn't upset about he is on the trading block, in fact he publicly said he knows and he is fine he is on trading block.
so he's not upset? usually when you are disrespected you feel something and i'm pretty sure it's not happiness.
nobody gave anything to anybody yet. this is a recruiting tactic - make melo as happy in that 6 hour visit as possible. every bit helps and if it's to photoshop melo's current number onto the jersey then so be it.
you're exactly right, nobody is even sure that he'll sign with houston, so why as a player of the team would you show dissatisfaction when nothing has even happened?
again, lin's performance wasn't spectacular last season so in my opinion, the best route he should of taken was to bite his tongue instead of show that ounce of dissatisfaction.

If anything, I'm glad this happened. Will just expedite the process of moving Lin from yet another toxic situation.
