SAS said NY or Miami. Im rolling with him. Love should of been the priority. Gasol still makes us better next season. We're bigger than Indiana now and we 'd still have a size advantage over Miami.

Bulls will land Melo! They just have too! Burned too many times by these big name FAs!! I have faith and always have had it. I get a little weak in my faith and then get boosted right back with the thought of it "it makes too much sense not to happen" and how opening night will be at the UC with the starting lineup announced.

I'm surprised the board isn't more generally pleased about the workout. I mean, is that not the biggest knock on our team this summer? We got to take that away on Day 1. And besides, I personally am stoked any time I hear about Derrick doing anything intense. Not to mention that Derrick finally decided to help us (himself). I liked every bit of the twerking.

Have some faith. I still believe he'll make the right decision to come to Chicago. If he stays, his dreams of winning a championship are over. That thing in NY has disaster written all over it. Rookie coach, noob GM, bad owner, no Lebron/Kevin Love etc..

McDermott: $1.8 mil
Mirotic: $1 mil cap hold
Hamilton: $0.3 mil cap hold
Empty roster spot cap holds: $2 mil

Total: About $53 mil

So you are right, that puts them around $10 million in cap space. Even if the Bulls dump Randolph, Snell, Smith, Dunleavy...that creates $5.3 million in cap space (their salaries total $7.3, but they would be replaced by empty roster cap holds). Trading Butler as well would give them another $1.6 million in cap room, bringing them to about $17.1 million. That's the thing that people don't seem to be pointing out, that even though the Bulls can dump those guys totaling $ 9.4 million, it only creates $6.9 million in actual cap space. Therefore, it would be more beneficial to include those guys in a S&T, because then you are able to use their true value of $9.4 million. So if you take that $10 million created by amnestying Boozer, plus that $9.4 million, you are able to bring Melo's starting salary to just about $20 million in a S&T.

The one negative of amnestying Boozer from my perspective, is that it probably means JR Smith can't fit into any S&T possibility.

Edit: I didn't even include the non guaranteed contracts, so that is even more money that can be put into the trade if necessary. So a S&T will not be an issue financially for Melo to get very close to the max if not completely there.

guys can this happen? do trade exceptions work like this? basically this guy is saying, after we amnesty boozer, we should be able to take on melo's bigger salary without sending salary matching back since we are under the cap and can absorb his contract.

im just doubtful that it can happen like that, and if it can.... why hasnt anyone brought it up yet?
