Summer League 2014

Post#1 » by codydaze » Thu Jul 3, 2014 5:53 am

Roster:

Ray McCallum
Ben Mclemore
Nik Stauskas
Derrick Williams
Quincy Acy
Marshon Brooks
Jared Cunningham
Ra'Shad James
Jake Odum
Nick Wiggins
Rion Brown
Brendan Lane
Josh Owens
Eric Moreland
Sim Bhullar
Dwayne Jones

Schedule:
7.11 vs San Antonio 7 PM ET
7.13 vs Charlotte 3 PM ET
7.14 vs D-League Select 1:30 PM ET

Thoughts on the roster? Looks like this will be a great opportunity to develop bench chemistry as five of those guys will, presumably, be on our regular season roster.

I'm looking forward to see Ray and Mclemores development, see what Nik can do, and see if Sim is capable of a 5 minute role scenario.

I can't believe they got Marshon Brooks. I expect Nik to dominate.

We've been focusing on Isaiah Thomas and the PF position so much we forget development from Ben can also make a huge difference. He did have a horrible year but I don't think it's impossible he does show significant improvement. A lot of his problems seemed to be nerves and having a bad year can only make that worse. I hope he just needs the off season to clear his head and refocus, a backcourt combo of Stauskas and Mclemore could be very interesting.

What happened to Marshon Brooks? Looked pretty good as a rookie.

Like others, I'm mainly interested in Ben and Ray's development. And maybe Williams can show signs of being a viable rotation player.

Little scrimmage highlights. Bmac looked good. Raymac looked confident. Stauskas had a couple nice shots with tight defense

McLemore using his athleticism to his advantage in those clips and it's nice to see him put the ball on the floor and take it to the rim.

I'm actually really interested in watching Derrick Williams. It's a make-or-break year for him, and I expect him to be hungry. He could become a very rich man for the rest of his life if he plays well next year. I want to see him in the running for Most Improved Player.

I take it you saw that athletic move from the three point line as well? That looked different from anything I've seen from DWill, I will be interested if he brings something new if he remains here

What was really nice about that was that spin move and under control layup Ben had at one point. I don't think Ben knew what a spin move was last year.

Obviously only so much you can take from it over all though.
