Why? I don't agree that they will have to take Boozer. It wasn't germane to my point.

Those reports that Melo was disappointed with Bulls' contract offer are probably bogus. No reason to talk $$ on 7/1. Too many variables.

Mike McGraw ‏@McGrawDHBulls 1m
Bulls' job for now is to convince Carmelo that Chicago is where he wants to play. They should be able to clear max cap room if they had to.

Boozer (no brainer)
Mirotic (hold yourself)
Dunleavy (Whatever)
Snell
Randolph
Non Guaranteeds
2015 First rounder
2017 First rounder
Sac Pick

So basically, every real asset that we have outside of Rose, Noah, Gibson, Jimmy, Doug and our 2016 pick.

Take out Mirotic and I'm fine with that.

Personally, Mirotic is a must for me...and most Bulls fans seem on board with that. You have to give to get, it's reasonable. If the Bulls get to keep Butler and McDermott, you can't really be too upset with that. The Sac pick has risks because it could easily become a 2nd rd pick, and the Bulls picks have obvious risks as well because they likely won't be anything to get excited about.

Edit: I'd also prefer the Bulls picks to be 2016 and 2018.

IMO, if Mirotic is being added, I think one of our 1st and Sac pick, With an additional 2nd rounder is enough. I see no reason why Knicks should get potentially 3 first round picks.

@McGrawDHBulls: Spoke to an NBA insider recently who said don't underestimate some teams' willingness to sabotage/spread false info.

I just called the amount of money the MLE, it doesn't need to technically be the exception to have the same effect.

We can start Melo at roughly 19m and still have a tad over 5m left if we clear everyone out beside Doug McDermott and Jimmy.

Amnesty Boozer
Trade Taj/Dunleavy/Randolph & cash for space
Sign Melo starting at 19.38 million
Trade the non-guarantees of Brewer, Amundson, and James plus picks total 4.069 for Gasol starting at 6.1 million

Rose/
Butler/Snell
Melo/McDermott
Gasol/Bairstow
Noah/Smith

Fill roster with vet min plus Room mid level exception

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if McGraw is a guy who reads these boards. Great follow on twitter - I appreciate that he doesn't spend much time trying to guess/speculate.

Whether Mirotic is going to be good or bad, the Bulls have done a great job hyping him up in the NBA circles. Getting him in a trade with another pick is huge for a team like the Knicks in a S & T. Teams don't get pieces like Mirotic in a S & T but only in Kevin Love type trades.

While I appreciate Kenny's enthusiasm - he admits that he uses twitter as a way to get a rise out of people.

No news here from Stein. Chicago has always been 'concerned' about it's chances of signing Melo because of the Knicks being favorites. Stein using the word 'concerned' is simply his spin to make it sound like some flashy new finding.

McGraw is truly one of the best. Not a nutcase "let me look in my crystal ball and jump to conclusions" Joe Cowley
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

that always trips me out though. Thats like Pau Gasol almost literally giving Melo 3 million dollars (assuming Pau can get the full amount elsewhere.) That amazes me.
