Mirotic to Ny
Picks+Filler to LA

Melo and Pau to Chi

Rose
Butler
Melo/McD
Taj/Pau
Noah/Pau

How does that work? Someone has to take Boozer for that to work I'm pretty sure. In that scenario does LA take Booz/MDJ/Snell?

In that deal then, LA would roll out: Nash-Kobe-MDJ-Booz-??? with Randle & presumably a resigned Swaggy P on the bench. Not a playoff team, but would have ability to use Booz in S&T for Love and would have their own pick and whatever picks from Bulls to try and make that happen. Hard to see that working for LA unless it's their best alternative to try and be a playoff team in Kobe's 2d to last year.

Let's all just chill! Nobody knows what's going through Carmelo's head..

Except maybe the NSA.

But other than that...nobody!

Hey, I just said that a page ago, and a day go.

Good call, Re. Another option would be to trade Gibson to Charlotte for McRoberts. Probably get McRob for less than $5M. Charlotte has wanted Taj forever.

Eye to eye with you.

Making the trip for Gasol as Plan B, the big signing and no attention to our wing detail, just never jived to me.

It has to be part of larger machinations. That Marc Stein probably has no clue about and Pax isn't going to let him in either.

Sounds right to me.

If Melo says "I WANT TO BE A BULL, BUT I NEED TO BE PAID ___ AMOUNT" ... I think Chicago can make it happen. I didn't buy that Bulls just "can't exceed a $16m offer." That would've been a joke of an offer considering the extent of Tuesday's meeting/recruitment. He's a $20m+ player, and I think the only exception would be teaming up with Lebron

Lebron's the best player in the game and you of course consider a mutual pay-cut if the #1 player HIMSELF was also willing to take a pay-cut. Other than that, $15-18m for Melo is unrealistic. It's too easy for 10 teams out there to top that offer, for one thing, and 5 of those places happen to have cities/organizations that rival or top ours.

So Bulls/Melo didn't really get to the details of the money stage? Sounds right to me...

So apparently Rose worked out for Melo. Can we put the "Rose is unwilling to recruit" thing to rest now?

If Taj is so great how come we started Boozer over him all last year?

Don't get me wrong Taj *is* pretty great, but Melo + Gasol is much greater still.

It's not something we need to even execute ideally, just to have lined up to do. At that point, checkmate on Phil.

We get Taj and Melo.

You know there is a NSA Bulls fan reading Melo's texts and listening to his phone calls, he know where Melo is going. 8-)

When is this fiasco going to be over? Any estimates on when this decision will be made? For example when was Lebron's "decision"

GarPax said they wanted a star after Rose got hurt. So every move they make will be to get one.

He's already said he will take less to win. But is looking for the best combination of money and winning.

He does seem to like Melo though, as apparently LA just getting Anthony would make him comeback there. And that's all they'd have beside grandpa Kobe and Randle.

So follows he should be ecstatic to join a Melo Bulls version team.

question is, how are the Bulls selling this Gasol idea to Taj and Melo?

To Taj: "Don't worry, we want you to recruit Teusday. We'll offer him cap space, keep the team together."
To Melo (Taj is out of the room): "Don't worry, that cap space deal we just told you about? We have a plan B. Know any tall Spanish power forwards?"

Honestly though, how can Taj know about this? Answer, he can't know, otherwise why would he be a part of his possible demise as a Bull? Pretty sneaky. And I'm not sure I buy it being considered seriously for that reason. Its pretty sneaky and kind of dirty dealing your guy, who you like.

I believe Melo did say this would be a quick decision and did not want to draw it out.

Melo has maintained that he wants to take the 4th of July weekend to think it over. A clear answer might not be forthcoming until monday.

Taj showed up a little after 2pm, meeting started at 1pm FWIW. Could mean nothing though.

I can think of far worse for Taj than to be sent to LA.

I don't think the Rockets should have used Lin's uniform number in their ad, but its a business, that the gist of things.

It's always a challenging situation during free agency. You are always having to recruit players and there might be current players at current positions, might be people with the current numbers. It's unfortunate that it's often hard to handle. Reality is it's standard practice. When we went after Chris Bosh a few years ago, we had him in Luis Scola's number. When we went after Dwight Howard he had [Patrick] Beverley's number. I get the sensitivity and I hate that it creates some hurt feelings. I don't like that, but that's obviously Carmelo Anthony's number, that's the number he wants. He told us that. Bottomline, if Carmelo comes Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin have to be traded. It's just math. It's not personal. My job is every day [to] figure out how to win. Sometimes it creates challenging situations -Daryl Morey

Thing here isn't even as bad as the above. Taj doesn't have to be traded for Melo, but we have to be *wiling* to trade him.

I'm not saying they shouldn't, I'm saying they won't with the way they included him in their pitch to Melo. You just don't bring in a guy to help pitch Melo and then trade him.

"Hey Melo, come to Chicago it'll be great. So good that I'll leave if I have to."

If Taj wasn't a part of the pitch Id say sure, they'd be willing to move him. No way it's happening now.

Lin wasn't at the meeting. Taj was.
