If Melo returns to the Knicks I hope Bulls management uses their heads and doesn't break the bank for a middling free agent or two who will handicap the team going forward. I understand no one is thrilled with the idea of "waiting until next year", especially considering the ever growing age of our roster, but sometimes patience is a virtue.

If we strike out with Anthony, bring over Mirotic, give McBuckets plenty of minutes, let Taj have his time to shine, and fill out the roster with short contracts. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth to say it, but keep some flexibility. You never know when Minnesota finally accepts they have to let go of Love.

I have two trad targets if we fail with Melo:

I like that, and that's a great sign IMO, if Melo didn't really talk about the numbers it could really be all about winning.

I think we can safely say Dallas is out

Houston didn't get the buzz expected and the Lin saga probably turned Melo off

Lakers are a wild card because if they can move Nash's contract for nothing they can surround him with some solid pieces but they don't even have a coach

If Melo stays in NY, that's fine, nothing wrong with that if he gets his money. If he takes a paycut, stays in Ny then he's an idiot. He'll be sacrificing money and two years of the ends of his career for the Knicks who may not be able to get him help. He'll be taking a paycut to join a rebuilding team when he can take a paycut to join a contending team whether it be Chicago, Dallas or Houston. If that is the case he has the wrong people giving him advice.

I won't crucify the guy if he takes the full max and stays. It's conceivable he thinks Phil will right the ship in two years. He likes/loves New York. His family seems to like it there. He could easily talk himself into giving Pheeel a chance to make some moves. Though Phils' first move- hiring Derek Fisher- wasn't all that great.
