@ESPNBSteinLine: Pessimism among some of Melo's suitors, I'm told, is undoubtedly rising about having any hope of getting Melo away from Knicks

@KCJHoop: Reported Bulls, Melo didn't talk $ much if at all Tuesday. Just general air of "we'll make financials work" if verbal commitment.

Good lord will some of you calm down. Such a defeatist attitude and the decision isn't close to being made.
We knew from the get go. It's us vs the Knicks.
Money and comfort level vs A better chance to win a title in the immediate future.

Just depressing to see some of the reactions in this thread as if we should never have tried.

Melo should wear a shirt with this print to the meeting with Phil.

I'll just say that if Carmelo chooses the Knicks, he can no longer say he isn't about the money and all about winning, because that simply would not be true anymore.

The optimism turned into sarcasm turned into pessimism and the longer it takes, the more we'll become psychos[FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY] this has to end now.

I understand no one is thrilled with the idea of "waiting until next year", especially considering the ever growing age of our roster, but sometimes patience is a virtue.

If we strike out with Anthony, bring over Mirotic, give McBuckets plenty of minutes, let Taj have his time to shine, and fill out the roster with short contracts. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth to say it, but keep some flexibility. You never know when Minnesota finally accepts they have to let go of Love.

I have two trad targets if we fail with Melo:

Love and Dragic (reported IND is going after him)

I like that, and that's a great sign IMO, if Melo didn't really talk about the numbers it could really be all about winning.

I think we can safely say Dallas is out

They've always been the type to go after 2nd and 3rd tier guys anyway

Houston didn't get the buzz expected and the Lin saga probably turned Melo off

Lakers are a wild card because if they can move Nash's contract for nothing they can surround him with some solid pieces but they don't even have a coach

New York and Chicago once again is what it comes down to

If Melo stays in NY, that's fine, nothing wrong with that if he gets his money. If he takes a paycut, stays in Ny then he's an idiot. He'll be sacrificing money and two years of the ends of his career for the Knicks who may not be able to get him help. He'll be taking a paycut to join a rebuilding team when he can take a paycut to join a contending team whether it be Chicago, Dallas or Houston. If that is the case he has the wrong people giving him advice.

We'll see.

I won't crucify the guy if he takes the full max and stays. It's conceivable he thinks Phil will right the ship in two years. He likes/loves New York. His family seems to like it there. He could easily talk himself into giving Pheeel a chance to make some moves. Though Phils' first move- hiring Derek Fisher- wasn't all that great.

Agreed. Everything reported right now means zero. Unless SAS appears out of nowhere I am talking it all as gossip.
