We're not on Pau's because we don't have a starting spot to offer him. Everyone else is in holding until Melo tells us no/yes.

In the NBA where average careers are probably 5 years or less...Gasol was a second option 5 years back. And to think if Melo goes back to the Knicks he is going back to a team full of role players who are WORSE than what the Bulls have. I'm pretty sure the Knicks would like to have two lottery type talents in McDermott and Mirotic.

Miami is going after anthony marrow. I don't see pau in NY.

Melo isn't signing with the Lakers. Let's put it this way, NY called Melo's people saying they were flying down to LA later for an impromptu meeting so Melo's people pushed the meeting up. That's how much he values the Lakers meeting. It also shows that NY is still on Melo's mind as his likely destination as they at the last minute asked for a meeting and Melo's people obliged.

It is also Phil Jackson sticking it to the Lakers. The Lakers had an opportunity for a 9 hour Bulls-style meeting but Phil cockblocked it.

I don't even get why the are courting Melo. They already owe Kobe a ton of money. Both guys do pretty much the same thing. So you'll have 40+mil in cap space dedicated to duplicity.

OK, so where is the line? If it was reasonable to think that a guy would give up a 5th year at $30M, why was it unreasonable to think that he would give up a few million per year?

That's basically my point.

No. Jordan's beef with the Bulls was Krause. He and JR and Pax are buds. Jordan probably resented Reinsdorf at some point, but the more experience he's had as a GM and owner, the more he's come to respect him.
