Don't buy it..

Gasol, 33, has been searching for a contract in the $10 million annual range, but hasn't ruled out the possibility of taking a deal in the midlevel exception range of $5.3 million annually, sources said.

Gasol remains a serious target of the Miami Heat, too, sources told Yahoo Sports. Miami president Pat Riley plans to meet with Gasol in Los Angeles this weekend.

So Melo will recruit Gasol to NY.
Gasol will tell him no thanks and tell him he will take MLE if he goes to Bulls.
Melo will say no.
Gasol will go to OKC.

No way in hell does Gasol go to New york for 3 mil a season. Why not just go to a team that can win now and pay you more?

Its not like Phil was Gasol's main hombre back in his laker days. Phil bitched at him about as much as he use to bitch at Kukoc.

Melo you heading back to new york by yo self buddy.

LOS ANGELES – Hours before his final meeting with New York Knicks officials, free agent Carmelo Anthony reached out to obtain free agent Pau Gasol's phone number and discuss with him the possibility of playing together at Madison Square Garden, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Does that sound like someone who ever considering leaving NY?

Told you it was all a ploy and that he was staying in NY months ago. No "sources" needed either,

Bulls fans know Rose and his pre season games. You guys believe in him since he is only 25 years old.

What I see is a player who had an ACL injury and rested(rehabilitation) for a long time and then came back just to hurt himself again by simply jogging.

Melo has every right to be concerned. He may believe in Rose and it's possible that he becomes his old self, but due to his risky playstyle and Melo's tenure with Amar'e, I doubt he will ultimately choose Chicago.

And Dwight Howard had back surgery which is pretty much a death-knell for big men. He's also had multiple shoulder issues. What's your point?

That people tend to think about recent memory more than the past.

If I hear Dwight Howard, I imagine a big guy who throws down alley oop dunks and swats big shots.

If i hear Rose, I imagine a guy who was pretty good in the past, but hasn't done **** the past few years other than watching games courtside.

That's human nature.

So if Melo can get Pau to join him, he's going back to NY. If he can't, we look more and more appealing. A last ditch effort for Melo to get some help around him in NY is the way I see it. And if Pau wants to compete, which is what it sounds like, NY for the MLE isn't a realistic option.

Oh please Pau Gasol isn't taking 3.28 Mil. He is barely considering the full MLE, let alone almost half that. And just wait for the Lakers to throw out 2/20.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we set a meeting with Gasol right after we met with Melo? So maybe there's a chance that we can get them both here.
