Knicks are interested in re-signing Melo and bring in Gasol (as expected), and the board is apparently going through the five stages of grief... for whatever reason.

Not sure if they really want him, especially if Gasol is there true plan B.

But, you can't make Minny trade him so I guess he can't be a priority right now.

- carmelo / lakers meeting went well They used matrix producer in pitch and he made a vid for carmelo

- Poster with inside info said that Carmelo is staying in ny and that the FA tour was just a ploy to talk to other players to convince them to come to new york

- woj just released article saying carmelo is trying to recruit pau Gasol to ny

- Boozer has interest from lakers and the suns should he get amnestied

- Bulls met with Pau Gasol

- Noah is in la as well (though I havent seen a tweet or report on that myself)
Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker......
- Tom Thibodeau after a loss

Should be telling him to convince Melo to force his way to Chicago via S&T, and then we will sign Pau with MLE.

If he joins Melo in NY all he can get is MMLE, at a higher tax rate than Chicago.

Don't see how NY would be appealing to Pau at all.

Yeah, NBA players do not think that elaborately.

exactly. they're more worried about finding that strip club again...NBA players don't think that far ahead. if they really thought things out like that there would be no compelling 30for30s anymore.

It's a last resort.
Trying to stay, but only with a real supporting cast.

Remember LeBron trying to convince Bosh to come to Cleveland.
Didn't work, so he left the team.

Similar situation. Similar crappy teams. Similar money. Hometown of both...

For a while now I've been of the opinion that the Bulls don't really like Love. So I don't expect anything to change on that front.

Carmelo is an idiot; he's pitching Gasol to take the RMLE. To do what? Barely make the playoffs? In the East to boot?

Gasol must be like "No wonder the East is so pathetic".

its really dumb isn't it, Lebron must be sitting back and laughing his ass off

Can't believe the pathetic east let Lebron get two rings and still refuses to band together to stop him

this times 1000, hes not leaving the heat when its a cakewalk to the finals every year what a joke.

The recruiting thing is all BS. Who on his "tour" could he have been recruiting besides Pau? Fact of the matter is he wanted to experience the process, gain leverage and make sure Phil & Co. give him the max. Anyone who thought otherwise was just fooling themselves.

The Bulls have the assets to make a run at Love and still be in great shape in terms of depth. I hope he demands to be traded because our only hope for a big 3 is with Rose, Noah and Love.

Given the fact that Taj was part of the recruitment, seems like the Bulls are basically telling Mello to commit to taking $16M with some chance he ends up getting the full $22.5M if Phil agrees to a Boozer S&T. I know everyone here thinks that Phil will cave on that, but it's always possible that he doesn't.

Not fair to put all the risk on Melo in this gambit. If we really believe Phil will cave why don't we commit to trading Taj/Dunleavy if Phil doesn't go along so that Melo can at least get close to max money. Worst case scenario we have a bit of a hole at PF this year until Mirotic comes over next year and plugs it. Best case scenario we get get add Melo and keep our mid-level exception.

We always are asking our front office to take some risks. Risking Taj to get Melo seems reasonable. to me.

Don't know about the money aspect of it, but Ramona says Pau loves LA because he like big city living so she didn't think OKC would ultimately work out for him.

Chicago, Miami, NY..all make sense

so basically...according to that article.....Melo was just stalling so he could get the max and an excuse from Phil(in the form of gasol) to come back to NY under the guise that he can see the path to winning now
:noway:

god I don't want to think of Melo being that much of a scumbag, and Leon Rose, who is thibs's agent, being an even bigger scumbag for leading thibs on like this

LOL Melo can't be that delusional. Does he seriously think that Gasol would say no to Miami/OKC so that he can make less and miss the playoffs?
