Rose was fine from the ACL just rusty. People forget in the few games he played he gave Lillard and Irving fits when guarding them. Westbrook had three surgeries on his knee meniscus whether minor or not that is still two more compared to Rose.

I generally believe Rose is fine but he never truly showed his lateral quickness yet in his return. We do not what the mental impact of his other knee is going to do. This is truly uncharted waters and it does not compare to Westbrook. I have full faith in Rose coming back but I am not the one staking 60 million and legacy on it either. Melo has also faced a teammate with bad knees before. Westbrook was also a tank prior to injury having never missed a single game at any level prior to that. It just isn't an apple to Apple comparison.

Their was no mental impact from the ACL but their is going to be one from a much lesser injury? Again Rose was shutting down Lillard and Irving so his later quickness was there. Westbrook had 3 surgeries in less than one year on the same knee Derrick has one and he won't be the same? The logic in that doesn't make sense.
Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

KC is a douche. Somebody tweeted "@KCJHoop Can't wait for the Bulls to announce the big signing of Luol Deng"

And KC retweeted it.

He and Freidell should form a cult and drink the Kool-Aid.

Butler, 2015 first, 2017 first, Sac pick (whatever it turns out to be), taking back a contract NY doesn't want and whatever fillers are needed to make it happen (Boozer, Snell, MDJ, etc.). One of Mirotic or McD if I really have to, but I'd rather not, and I'd need to think that over some. I'm not hung up on trading Taj, but it seems like Melo wants Taj and NY doesn't want him.

Lebron is a sociopath. I really hope we can beat that guy one day.

@ramonashelburne: Pau Gasol will indeed meet with the Heat, according to a source.

@NickFriedell: If Bulls held on to core of Noah, Rose, Gibson, McDermott -- most they could offer Melo would be about $17 mil to start.

@NickFriedell: So assuming Melo took Knicks offer of full max deal -- would you rather have 4 yr. deal worth about $70 mil or 5 yr. deal worth $129 mil?

@NickFriedell: If you have cap questions you should direct them to @LarryCoon. But the money Melo would be leaving on table to come to Chi is staggering.

I have to think that after all the backlash Lebron got for what he did in 2010, Carmelo didn't string everyone along. If he knew the Knicks were going to make him a max offer and he was going to take it, he wouldn't have visited the teams. The fact that he isn't giving an answer meant that he was being sincere about it all not being about the money. He might just be mulling over Houston vs Chicago and which team offers him the best change to win and win now.

We all know what that answer is...:)

Well if Rondo for Bosh is true then this makes sense. And if they could land Ariza too, great job by Riley. They would be all-world defensively again.

One silver lining if Nighttrain's source is right is that this may be just what Rose needs to put him into scorch the earth mode honestly probably the rest of the team as well. The intensity that Tibs would bring could not be calculated. I really don't think it's over either but I'm kind of fine if it is too, we're not in some horrible place.

If we bring over Mirotic, resign DJ and with McBuckets and Rose returning we're adding a ton of offense. Not to mention losing Boozer. I really can't stand stairs but he is there for the taking. I may rather fill out with some easy to move reasonable contracts maybe like an Ariza and see what we can do in a trade either Love of a wing. I'm not too big on Pau, not that I have a problem with him but I'm cool with Taj MIrotic and Noah. I'd rather shore up the perimeter more unless it's a massive upgrade like Love. I just hope we don't freak out and try and throw a 8-10 mil contract at Pau or something that would be my main concern.

Does anyone else feel that Phil's negotiating tactics are similar to the Rick James episode on Chappelle's show where Charlie Murphy is telling the story of Rick muddying up Eddie's couch?

"Melo, look at the guys in MIA and SA taking pay cuts, that's what you need to do".

"Melo, here is 130m, all for you, homie".

I mean who wouldn't like getting their ass kissed by several cities. Sounds pretty cool. I'd do the same.

why do ppl think we have to give Melo a flat yearly salary?...have they never heard of increases?

also Bulls said they would make the financials work if he committed....i take that as "if you want the max, we'll get you the max"

if hes willing to take less because of taj then great.....but the Bulls would trade him if they had to or atleast i hope they would
