Lakers offered a max and Knicks offered a supermax and he is done with both meetings?

Woj revealed that Melo tried contacting Gasol about joining the Knicks.

I called Melo a tool, but maybe it was presented as, hey Pau hypothetical, if I were to stay with the Knicks, would you be interested?

But...ya I don't really believe that.

Well to me the main thing is Nighttrain (I have no clue how reliable he is) came on saying that Melo was planning on staying in NY and was going around soaking up the recruiting pitches and trying to recruit other players to the Knicks. It was all laughed off as preposterous and then not much later Woj broke a story about Melo trying to recruit Gasol to NY. There was also Noah going to LA and people saying he was in LAX telling people Melo was staying in NY and a pic with him looking kind of ticked. Who knows it could all be BS but it honestly wouldn't shock me if it was true.

Can you show me where you got that stuff about Noah? Thanks.

if i could get more money playing in my hometown of new york city, where my wife and kid enjoy living, i'd take the money without a second thought

I absolutely hear you on that as well though..

But if he'll take less to win titles...can't blame him for listening

Are you still over here arguing that Miami makes more sense than Chicago?

This is understandable and respectable. This isn't what he did, though. The dude said winning is more important than money. Only time will tell.

see here is the thing. he can talk himself into believing he has a chance to win in NY. and that's all he needs for cover to stay.

Oh wow - did Woj really report that?? What a tool if Melo did that.

Yeah here's the article:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/carmelo-an ... 46550.html

LOS ANGELES – Hours before his final meeting with New York Knicks officials, free agent Carmelo Anthony reached out to obtain free agent Pau Gasol's phone number and discuss with him the possibility of playing together at Madison Square Garden, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Because there are only a few big fish, three of them decided to play together in Miami.

That's free agency. It's not a reflection on the FO or the team in general.

Ben Wallace was the only worthwhile FA we signed to be honest. And he was an offensive scrub from the get go. Other teams bring in stars and we can't. Why is it we can't convince elite talent to come to Chicago? Probably because GarPax aren't very good recruiters and can't relate to this generations athlete's.

Who did you hope we would get, exactly?

And don't start with the big 3. They weren't coming here.

A picture of him at LAX was tweeted, but the stuff about him telling people Melo was staying in NY was a "my friend's cousin's friend's brother" thing.

Rose was fine from the ACL just rusty. People forget in the few games he played he gave Lillard and Irving fits when guarding them. Westbrook had three surgeries on his knee meniscus whether minor or not that is still two more compared to Rose.

I generally believe Rose is fine but he never truly showed his lateral quickness yet in his return. We do not what the mental impact of his other knee is going to do. This is truly uncharted waters and it does not compare to Westbrook. I have full faith in Rose coming back but I am not the one staking 60 million and legacy on it either. Melo has also faced a teammate with bad knees before. Westbrook was also a tank prior to injury having never missed a single game at any level prior to that. It just isn't an apple to Apple comparison.

Their was no mental impact from the ACL but their is going to be one from a much lesser injury? Again Rose was shutting down Lillard and Irving so his later quickness was there. Westbrook had 3 surgeries in less than one year on the same knee Derrick has one and he won't be the same? The logic in that doesn't make sense.

I am not anti Rose trust me but no player has ever missed the time Rose has and has come back to form. If you have the example please site it. I am sure my logic doesn't make sense, but honestly I can't see yours so I need you to expound on it a bit more.

Yeah that seemed really shaky I didn't think much of it when it happened but with the Woj thing I'm not so sure personally. Like maybe he tried to recruit Noah too and that's what ticked him off. I know that's kind of a stretch but IDK the way the nighttrain thing and Woj thing happened kind of made me think twice about the tweet about Noah.

Switch out Lance for Waiters and I'm with you.

I think it takes Gibson, Butler and pick to get Love, so I think we'd Lance to be that wing defender. It certainly setups up a clear 1,2,3 option. With Rose, Love and Lance.

Sorry, you'll never get me aboard the Lance train. And don't say I didn't warn you guys about him 3 years from now.

He's clearly not my first choice but it really weakens the Pacers and I think we have the guys to keep him in line. Taj and Noah won't let him get out of line.
