Anybody else get the feeling the 2014 plan was to hope LeTurd goes west?

Cuz this **** is anticlimactic as **** right now, 3 years of hype about the "2014 plan".

Apparently, you keep raking in profits and quoting 'flexibility' while signing carryovers as you keep endlessly trying for those superstars.

Proven winning, or dominance on paper at the least, comes first here, then the money.

Gasol 07 and Asik 12 tell you what you need to know about the chances of collecting more and more talent in hopes of rearranging it into a balanced, deep, culmination talent type winner.

I think Melo takes that Knicks contract. Can't knock him for that. That's guaranteed money. We can talk about winning and all that rubbish, but it always comes down to money. Knicks are desperate. He is all they have. We still have a couple of other routes to go (Love or Mirotic/depth).

I'm not discouraged or even mad. Bulls are still in a good place and everyone in the organization from the players to the coach understands the front office is sincerely trying to do something. It's gonna be okay if Melo takes that deal.

My two cents is that Melo is trying to convince Gasol to sign with the Knicks so that he can PR spin that signing with the Knicks was about winning. In reality there's absolutely no way he's walking away from 5/129.

We still have a shot but right now it doesn't look good one bit.

My confidence and hope has dropped significantly tonight.

I think he wants to make sure he has help, which explains the Pau news. If OKC or CHI lands Pau, then Melo might think hard about coming to another losing situation.

In a sense your right but we just want the best for the bulls. More early playoff eliminations just aren't going to cut it. Any way you see it, if we don't get either melo or love I find it hard to believe that this is a championship team anytime soon.

Agreed. Melo represents one of the primary ways to get better right now just because he is really good at something that we lack. However, his not the ONLY way for this team to get better. The only thing that I asked of this organization is to get in position to make a run at top tier talent. They did that. People will obviously find reasons to piss and moan and nit pick, but the bottom line is you cannot deny the effort that everybody put into this. If Melo doesn't want to come, then you have to ask yourself how much we really needed him to begin with. You have to carry yourself with some dignity at some point.

How are the Bulls so quiet? This has me thinking if something is up or they know something. If they knew Melo wasn't coming to the Bulls wouldn't they start on the contingency plans?!

agreed. We can get some quality depth with Boozer gone. Tbh, I'm a little intrigued by Jamal Crawford being amenable to a sign and trade if Melo doesn't pan out, but that's a conversation for another thread.

Hold the "journalists" accountable for trying to pass off conjecture and random tweets as reports from "sources." That won't happen since the companies only care about ratings, so basically you're screwed if you want better/accurate reporting.

Making the team as good as possible with a combination of younger players like McDermott/Mirotic and/or plug-in vets on short-term deals can help you maximize what you have without killing future flexibility just because you're frustrated. There will be other free agents. Committing to the wrong guy just because you're tired of striking out on the right guy won't be the right path.

You can never know until he puts pen to paper. They had a 9 hour meeting with him, they have been in contact with him for months, they really put all their efforts into him and I'm sure there is a plan B but they just have to wait on Melo.

I think that it's extremely naive for anyone to believe that Melo came into that meeting no knowing what the Bulls were offering or would get into position to offer. Both he and Thibs share the same damn agent for crying out loud. Furthermore, nobody seems to be busting the Mavs and the Rockets chops and we don't have a clue as to what they were offering either. It's just the way of things when you are dealing with teams that need to maneuver to get under the cap.

How confident fans are that we will sign Melo?
