Although I still don't buy into all of the Twitter stuff and my cousin's friend's uncle non sense, I would be lying if I said that I was as optimistic today as I was yesterday. However, Woj says we are still in the running and he is the guy that seems to get it right with a fair amount of consistency.

So with that said, if Melo comes he comes. If he doesn't, then we go to work on building as thick of a team as we can and let it play out. One thing is for certain, if he goes back to NY, I am fairly certain that he will regret it (from a career perspective) for a long long time.

Take a deep breath and remember the media sells hits by playing the roller coaster.

If they just kept auto-pilot on the same message, why would anyone bother to keep checking.

He's coming / not coming /coming / not coming is their money maker approach.

Melo 15: The End Is Nigh

Post#1544 » by inescape » Fri Jul 4, 2014 5:33 am

Melo put himself in a can't win situation by opting out, he really should have listened to Phil as he had not only the Knicks but Melo's best interests in mind when he tried to tell him to do it. If he had opted in and then next summer the Knicks struck out in free agency then the fans would not fault him for leaving but rather the organization. He would have been in a can't lose situation, either getting a supermax deal with a rebuilt roster or a free pass to leave and not be hated by his home city.

By opting out he can't win. He is going to either stay in New York and be viewed as a liar, and all about the money, not to mention his big contract will be blamed for Knick failures in the future, or he is going to be a deserter, hated by his home town if he leaves and blamed for all Knick failures.

His advisors or him not sure who but they messed up big time with this whole thing. Of course maybe he doesn't care and really just wanted to get the experience, it sounds just douche enough to fit right in with the 03 draft class.

Seriously, can we sacrifice him to Benny yet, there really needs to be some kind of resolution to 1500 pages of melo talk. This is as good as it gets guys.

Oh please. A healthy Bulls team was winning 60 games and on its way to back-to-back ECF. That's hardly basketball hell.

Sure it is who cares about ECF its about Championships

Maybe the master plan was to pretend like we were all in on Melo knowing full well he wasn't going to accept $16m or so (keeping Taj), and then pocket the savings we we were told would be reinvested in the team after the Deng trade. Afterall, someone's gotta pay for the new facility.

Better hope Melo doesn't go back then, because he won't be liked here at that point, and you won't be welcome back there.

Maybe the Sonics board be a good place? :)

Some serious whining going on up in here. I was going to pull a double shift, but the negativity...

People realise that we're in the Eastern conference, right?

We're winning 55 games next season, no question. SOUNDS TERRIBLE.

If we miss on Anthony, we move onto Love. No stress.

So what's the alternative? You're going to break up a 60 win team? That's idiotic.

From what I am reading they dont want Melo at the max there. Cant blame them. 25 mil for a 35 year old Melo is a tough pill to swallow.
