Do *you* think that was the master plan?
After all these years, I wouldn't be shocked if it were true.
Didn't answer the question.
Not necessarily.

All we need is him to like ours more. Go to NY, say S&T me to Chicago. Threaten to go to Houston if NY doesn't comply, which he may well like better than NY as well.

Just relax. I still think we have a good chance. New York still isn't going to get him wins, and that's the reality. Melo's mantra all along has been that it's not about making the most money and that he wants to win now. Just wait. We got this.

Afterall, someone's gotta pay for the new facility.
I've been lurking through most of this roller coaster with everyone but really haven't posted to save myself the disappointment should he eventually leave us at the alter. But I have been kicking this whole money thing around and I keep coming back to the same thing. It is what I started harping about last year. The Bulls were 2nd in total profit this year and have been a top 3-5 profit team the past 7-8 years. What does this mean? If JR really wanted to bite the bullet and not only amnesty Boozer but he could tell Garpax to spend whatever it takes to get Melo his max. I mean they just made 61 million profit for 2013. You can't tell me adding Melo would not equal or better that?
Maybe not but they will never turn a loss. My point being is that they have enough money to pay the tax for this year and then get out from under it with the new CAP projections likely to sky-rocket. CAP gurus am I wrong about this?
Yes - you're wrong. The Bulls can't just 'spend more' to pay Melo his max. And they can't just decide to 'pay the tax' for Melo. You seem to have no understanding of how the cap, exceptions, free agency, and the tax work.

Pretty sure he was just demonstrating how ridiculous the whining is.

Oh please. A healthy Bulls team was winning 60 games and on its way to back-to-back ECF. That's hardly basketball hell.
Yup, and we had the best backup center in the league, the best 3 point shooter in the league, Deng, a younger Boozer, and a healthy and good Derrick Rose. None of those pieces are here today.
technically, we do have those pieces today

I agree with you. The only concerning this is the reports of the Bulls not offering him anything.

We're quiet. We're a few trades away from being able to "offer" him anything. We haven't heard it because it can't happen yet anyway and we're not going to show our hand until Melo tells us to start moving pieces. I'm not concerned we haven't heard what our plan is yet.

fleet is my inspiration. We were never interested in Melo. We only wanted to create a fascade to fool fans whilst instead pocketing money.
Yes, i am aware that gaining Anthony would mean we'd be a title contender, meaning more playoff revenue, more merchanisde sales, price increases at the venue instead of the alternative run of the mill finances we'd be running into, but alas, we only did this all for show.
