Optimism for Embiid's Health

how's noel been looking so far this offseason? is he on schedule to play this season? I mean chandler's been in the league for 10+ seasons and won a championship with Dallas...Embiid will never play in an NBA game. what's up with Noel? it's not rolling the dice for greatness it's common sense not to draft a big guy with multiple health issues the year after you draft a big guy with health issues especially when you tank the season to get a high pick. so many nice players in this class sixers could've gotten who will actually play. amazing

Noel is scheduled to play tomorrow, in the summer league.

The only health issue of merit is the foot, which is a concern, but not a deal breaker if you're patient. Embiid won't play this year, and hopefully is healthy for the long term after that.

Personally, I would have taken Exum, but Embiid is the biggest prize in the draft...if his foot heals, he's a huge difference maker. He and Noel create a set of big men with unmatched length and athleticism...could be special.

Speaking of Exum..

As per some Magic posters. Exum had a poor performance in his workout with the Magic. The Magic let Exum play one on one with Oladipo and he was overmatched. So their sentiment completely changed thats why they opted to pass up Exum for Gordon with the 4th pick.

With that said, I think that is another reason to solidify the rationale with selecting Biid third overall.

Didn't Embiid's doctor said he expects the foot to be fully recovered or something like that while it's reported the Sixers people thinks the foot injury is just a one time thing?

People who have seen the medical reports on Embiid's foot are quite optimistic while people who haven't seen his medical reports can only speculate and be scared with his condition.

Mchale healed just fine, Haywood and Ming, not so much.

I expect Embiid to be healthy, Hinkie wouldn't be that stupid to take someone that has health concerns at number 3. But to say this injury is minor like a broken toe or a knee sprain is ridiculous.

The facts are this, there isn't sufficient data in the NBA for this type of injury to make a proclamation either way, (Dr.s have said that) but I expect him to be healthy in 5-8 months because that's what Hinkie said.

Embiid is lucky that he was drafted by the Sixers, he won't be on the court until its 100% healed and that's a good thing.

Michael Jordan healed up fine also. I don't think comparing Yao to Embiid is comparable. Different body types completely. I would think that Embiids body is closer to Jordan's . Lean and athletic not someone with too much growth hormone like Yao. Not big boned .

Amazing the certainty about embiids injury when there is no science/research to support it...even if the MDs cleared him, remember medicine is an art and not purely science.

Jordan didn't have surgery on his so Haywood may be the closer to the comparison with Embiid. I never said he won't play, or that his injury is career threatening. I'm just pointing out that its a serious injury when compared to past players who fractured their navicular bone.

20-30 years ago I am not sure they operated on injuries like this.

There's really no rush if it's going to be another season of tanking. Better safe than sorry.
