I dont follow. How does that connect to Melo?

Is NY going to take Randolph?

I think the implication would be that the Bulls are a step ahead of us and are in the process of executing their plan. Now of course guys like Melo/Pau have the final say as to where they go, but it seems like the Bulls have considered multiple scenarios while still remaining confident they can land these guys.

For instance, they seemingly knew Mirotic was coming over prior to the Melo meeting. And of course they knew they were going after Melo when they took on Randolphs contract.

So I have to believe they accounted for all of these things prior to courting Melo and have plans/deals in place already. Melo and whoever else just needs to say yes

Why? NYK found leverage?

Relax guys. You think the Bulls really offered 15 mil? Bulls have a plan, just relax. Enjoy some hot dogs and be prepared for fireworks.

whats the plan? There is only one possibility. Use the Lakers as a threat to extract a S&T to Chicago from Phil. And if that were hapening, Melo's people would have leaked strong Melo interest in the Lakers to all media. But instead, every story is that Melo has eliminated the Lakers. He's not playing ball with the plan.

He's actually a very capable defender. Are you serious? Maybe you should watch him play before asking people to watch Jones. Dude is playing center a lot of the time trying to hold his own.

Capable? Sure. And I've watched plenty of Bosh to know that he isn't some sort of massive upgrade defensively over Jones. But hey, feel free to disregard all the other advanced metrics especially when you consider his age and price.

And you feel free to rely on advanced metrics of a guy who visually got beaten badly by Aldridge which forced Howard to spend more time on him. Also, Jones won't have the advantage of always having Howard or Asik at his side all the time anymore. Believe what you will. Rockets have money to spend and they need a better PF way more than they need a better SF. Rockets score enough to not need a guy who can only score more than a guy who fills a position where they were abused at in the most recent playoff series.

and wasn't LA one of the very few places Mirotic would reportedly play?

Interesting...

where did you hear that?

Yep. This is why Mirotic wouldn't work in a S&T for Love.

This made me LOL. How dare Carmelo consider his wife and child's feelings.

That's like the only reason for staying in NY that I really understand.

Hiding behind feeding your family and the wife is always a go to move when they take the money. Don't get me wrong, if you want the money, take the money. But don't pretend you are all about winning first, money second, with a chance to prove it. But instead you take a stack of 100s as high as the moon to play on a lousy team when you're about to hit your physical decline. And use your wife and kids as a shield.

Man, LMA abuses most PF's in this league in the low post. If you think Bosh on that Houston team would stop that you're fooling yourself. And who said Melo was a good fit for them anyway? No way Bosh brings anywhere near the upgrade you make it out to be when you consider age and price. His passive attitude and nonchalant ways of standing around at the 3 point line is exactly what that team doesn't need.

But yeah, give up on a 23 year old who put up a PER if 20 because he got "abused" by an all star PF.

So Knicks were 37-45, and have gotten worse.
Leading rebounder Chandler is gone, enter Dalemebert, downgrade.
Leading assist guy Felton gone, enter Calderon, slight upgrade, kind of old now.
So, Melo is left being "that guy", best, highest paid on a crappy team.
You've got to figure the guy has SOME amount of pride, right?

So, why would he wanna go out like a bitch?
Not only are the Knicks going to be a borderline playoff team in this
coming season, but for a few more. Melo's body language in
games last year had an unmistakable look of "Ive got to get out of this
basketball hell". Money, Lala, Phil, well, there's that, but, seriously, is
Melo really going to want to announce, "Sorry, my wife won't let me play with you"...

This is his legacy and he knows it. How he'll be remembered and referred to for all time.
Winning in Chicago, or elsewhere not named New York, would also bolster his post
playing days earnings potential. Yeah, I didn't see Stockton and Malone do a lot of post
retirement national ads. People remember winning and winners, not whiners and losers.

This is the weekend, so we'll know very soon now. Take a deep breath y'all, Melo is gonna lay his cards, i.e., reveal his inner soul in a couple of days. I'll leave it all of the experts in here to speculate.

P.S. For all the blah-blah-blah about Phil Jackson, firstly, he was stupid to ever take the job, next he hires a guy with ZERO coaching experience, okay, then he downgrades the C position with Dalemebert, not
that Chandler is any big whoop, also sends Fatty Felton away and Claderon in: 11ppg 4apg, 32 years old. How friggin' excited could Melo be looking at this roster, money or not.

Wherever he goes, I'll respect that. If he stays in New York, then I lose respect for him.
Guy has made a lot of money, but never won. Your choice Mr. A, the cash in basketball hell, with
a diminished legacy, or maybe the opportunity to bounce LeBron and the Heat out of the ECF and go to the Finals playing for CHI.
