So let me get this straight. If we forget about Vasquez, and stretch Fields, we could potentially get a 10mil/year FA AND use our MLE for 5million? Or am I wrong about something here? Obviously we don't want to go over the cap but it sounds like we could field a fairly competitive team if we did.

We want less Fields not more. Stretching a 6.5M expiring is worse than just hating his contract for a year.

With 7.5 millions, we can resign Vasquez for 5, and a vet wing for 2/2.5.
I don't see this as impossible.

Now Vasquez is the priority, then we could free up space.

I said this in the other thread, but this is where things get tough.

The wing target is Carter, but I don't think you get him for less than $3.5-$4 million. As dagger pointed out, Lewis is probably the fallback option. I would argue that a true SF is a bigger need than a backup PG at this point. I like GV, but anything more than about $4 million per is probably too much. I think the stretch waives are out because we don't want to add anymore cap to next year. You might be able to get a serviceable guy for the minimum, but do you want to risk the drop off from GV to that guy? Especially when Carter has as much value as that contract with the fans and the hype.

I could see them giving Carter a good portion of the MLE and using the rest on a backup PG.

Vasquez loves Toronto so much...wonder if he would take a home team discount or
sign a one year deal so we can sign him to a bigger deal next year when we have more
cap space? He seems like he would be down for that.

All we think about Carter, is right, but Rashard Lewis?
He is a veteran, he knows still play, would settle for very little money...

Rashard would be awesome for us. I do wonder if he's just ring chasing at this point, though. He's made a bunch of money over the years.

Would you use the stretch provision on anyone?
Fields? Novak?

Fields would be part of the cap for 3 Years, about $2.83M per.
Novak would be part of the cap for 5 Years, about $1.45M per.

Now the million dollar question is, does this team, after everyone reaches their peak able to contend for a championship?

If they were to reach their peak? I would say hell yeah we could compete... Reaching their peak means you have 4 guys in our starting line up that could average you 20pts per night. Is "everyone" reaching their peak realistic? No... That's why in my quotes earlier, I wasn't asking for DD to become 37% 3-Ball shooter, or T.Ross to become an Alpha-Dog type player, or Caboclo becoming "The Brazilian Durant", hahahaha.... Even without them all reaching their peak though with small developments, a JV leap & maintaining of what was built last year you have ECF team...

I think Novak has value at this point. I think we can trade him. And no reason to stretch Landry, he is expiring.

He'd probably ask for a back loaded Contract. $30M/5 Years

Y1 - $4M
Y2 - $4.5M
Y3 - $6M
Y4 - $7.5M
Y5 - $8M ($4 Million Buyout)

Updated Cap Sheet with both Kyle/PP deals being paid evenly & Nogueira being brought over on his rookie scale deal...

Is there any way Bruno can be stashed for this year(since he won't play) without giving him a contract and taking up a roster spot? MU wants him in TO and practicing with club and his family is poor and likely needs the money.

Is there any way around this?

I dont think Amir is kept in 2015. Not unless we strike out on many of the all-star bigs available.

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

updated with Patterson re-signing. Something to note:

I assumed he started at 6 and its a flat deal and thats reflected in my calculations.

I also added a 2015 outlook to the OP. Enjoy.
