I think of it this way. If I were a good enough athlete to play for a Chicago team, a team that I grew up rooting for, unless I just got absolutely crapped on by the organization, it would take a hell of a lot for me to ever consider leaving.

If you think it's bad now, wait until he's doing the tour for Derrick in a few years. They absolutely will do the same thing that Melo did. Even if there's no intention on leaving, it still raises the hype of the 'brand'.

Yeah, I agree. I think part of the reason the Melo deal didn't go down (if it doesn't, don't want to kill it yet) was that the Bulls simply wanted to do this without Mirotic or McDermott. I guess Taj Gibson too. They figure they are keeping their strength up long term. I guess the long term wins over the shorter term.
