Nick Young would be a good option, but I think he's pretty set on returning to LA.

Stephenson, as much as I've hated the idea, seems almost reasonably priced compared to what most guys on the market are getting, so it's worth considering.

Personally though, Stuckey would be my main target. As a slasher, I think he's probably going to be quite affordable relative to his production, and he'd fit well next to McDermott spacing it out on the wings. As ManRam mentioned, he can run the point to some extent as well, so I think he can play the DJ/Nate role AND play the majority of the SG minutes.

Per 36 minutes, he averaged 19ppg last season, and I think he'll greatly benefit from removing himself from that Detroit team and putting himself in a situation like here.

Oh, and Burks/Waiters would be worth looking into via trade. Problem is, we don't have an asset's to really use, because Doug or Mirotic are too valuable. Snell+Kings pick+2nd maybe?

Rose, DJ
Young, Butler
Mcd, Dun
Taj, Mirotic
Noah, Smith.

That's a deep team and well balanced.

Screw it. If we can't sign Melo sign me up for this lineup. This is a try hard team that could win some games, and would be fun to watch. If we went anywhere with this squad then we would have damn well earned it. To go deep into the playoffs we would need Miro and McD to hit the ground running, and realize the most optimistic projections of their year one potential, but it wouldn't be totally outside the realm of possibility IMO.

Could Evan Turner be the answer, and at what price?

He's not. Besides not getting along with Derrick, he's just a 8th man at best. Even then, he couldn't get off the Pacer bench which starved for playmaking.

The correct answer is go all in on Lance

4 years $50M
"GarPax played Grab Ass with Mirotic for 5 years and been in Omaha playing Hide the Salami with Doug McBuckets for the 1.5 years and they've developed feelings for him. Well, I say "F feelings and F loyalty!" I want CHIPS! Jerry Krizause

I tell ya what....Turner was ballin in Philly before the trade. He sucked with the Pacers an his stock has crashed. We can probably get him for cheap now. Derrick don't like him an he cant shoot the 3 though. But as a backup SG...he could be a solid steal for cheap. Give him a full summer with a team.

Turner could help bring the ball up too

Seriously though, what's so bad about it? He's a very talented slasher, can be a second creator and can play both guard spots.

I know the 3 point % doesn't look pretty, but with Doug, Mirotic, Rose and hopefully an improved shooting Tony Snell, spacing the floor should be a lot less of an issue.

Thibs seems to have this ability to resurrect players' careers ... I am aware of Turner's deficiencies, but he also has some qualities that would fit Thibs' system ...

I don't think he is a good locker room guy in general. He hasn't been particularly well liked at any of his stops.

I see Rose, Butler, McDermott, Gibson and Noah starting. I see Snell and Nikola off the bench. So I want a 1-2 guard like Stuckey who can create or land a nice back up PGlike DJ and pick up Anthony Morrow for the 2G.

Imagine a 2nd unit of DJ, Morrow, Snell and Nikola. Oh my is that some 3 point shooting. Picking at 11 unless you land a legit star, that player better be able to start for you.

Screw it. I'm ready to go 1998 draft on everyone's ass and say Carter and Pierce. Re-sign D.J. and find a big through dealing Dunleavy.

C Noah/Haul from Dunleavy trade
F Gibson/Smith
F Pierce/McDermott
G Butler/Carter
G Rose/Augustin

(The idea here is to target a guy who can play both PF and C for Dun-Dun, so Thibs can run a nine-maner off Rose, Butler, Pierce, Gibson, Noah, Carter, McDermott, Augustin and that PF/C with Smith and Snell as insurance. You'd be heavy on perimeter players, but there is scoring value to be found there.)

EDIT: Whoops - Forgot Mirotic. That improves the balance.

C Noah/Haul from Dunleavy trade
F Gibson/Mirotic
F Pierce/McDermott
G Butler/Carter
G Rose/Augustin

The real question for me is:

Can Thibs improve Turner in the same way that he has improved Nate Robinson and D.J. Augustin?

The physical tools and the talent are obviously there ... He is still pretty young (25), and he hasn't suffered any significant injuries during his 4 seasons in the league ... If he is available on a cheap contract, I wouldn't mind taking a gamble on him ... A guard rotation of Rose/Augustin/Butler/Turner could be an interesting combination ...

Answer to OP's question is Bledsoe. Starting 2 and backup 1, duplicates (er, doubles) Rose's skills. I would move Butler, Dunleavy and a $9m TPE in a S&T to make it happen, and sign Marion to a 2-year MLE to run with that unit.

Rose Kirk
Bledsoe Snell
Marion McD
Taj Mirotic
Noah Smith

That's the kind of move I'd make in NBA2K, but alas, GarPax think opposite... and realistically, they won't tie another mega contract to a second small guard coming off a torn meniscus, and I can't blame them..

Can we get Waiters? I would be okay with that. Kind of scared of his character, but he'll add what we need.

I think a question to ask is who can we get that's better for the team than Butler because he's gonna be gone if we get someone else. He isn't going to go to the bench after starting 1/2 the season last year.
