Been following this drama for a bit now... If we get melo then we are Gona win it all if not then he is going to be a career loser ? How does that even make sense ? Yes the bulls can field a better team right this moment but u can't sit here and tell me that this will be the case 2 yrs from now... They have Phil Jackson manning the ship now you noe the man who led to 6 bulls championships !!! There is no reason not to expect him to turn the ship and make NY into contenders next few seasons ... The man has do nothing but win ... He has more rings then fingers

He has never done this job before and neither has the coach that alone would make me not wanna go back to NY.

They will also be installing the Triangle offense, a system that has never been successfully executed by anyone other than Tex Winter and Phil Jackson. Kurt Rambis has tried but has always failed. Just because Phil is the President doesn't mean that it's going to be easy... Steep learning curve and you need the right personnel. That is a lot to ask of a former point guard who has never coached before.

I wonder if the scenarios are such that:
1) Melo + Taj + Mirotic

2) Melo + Gasol + Mirotic - Taj

Is the $22 million offer reliant on the Knicks agreeing to a S+T? Because that is concerning.

If not, great. However I still find it a bit odd to have Taj pitch only to get dealt to up Melo's offer. That looks bad.

The Bulls want Melo and let it be known that they do whatever. They brought Taj in to hopefully get Melo for cheaper seeing that Taj can help them win easier. But they will not let money get in the way of Melo.

Agreed, that's smart for them to get the financials out to him, but I think he ultimately chooses Knicks.

Why wouldn't we? We don't have to sign and trade with NY to get Melo, since we could just sign him outright with the space created with the Taj trade. And if we sign him, we can't trade him for a time. I'm pretty sure Niko is staying.

There's a way to get Pau and keep Taj, prob no Niko then as we used the mle on something else.

If Melo choose us, NY would do a S&T and the Bulls would add more than Melo and he knows it. I still think he stays in NY as Lala runs the show IMO.

I'm torn on if I want Pau or Niko..but it seems like Melo wants Pau to be the Ray Allen to his LeBron. I'd get over it.

While as a Bulls fan, I love Phil Jackson, he has always coached Hall of Fame, legendary talent. Secondly, he did that all a a coach. Never been a GM. Jackson could build an amazing team but he has yet to prove that he can.

Early on in his career in Chicago he gave an interview. To paraphrase, he said he wants to play offense from the inside out. Players have even repeated the mantra.

You are right that not every play would be a post play with Melo here but that would have been the foundation.

As far as the "swing it side to side", people tend to forget that the triangle is based on that. You swing it to a side and form a triangle around a guy in the post. If he can get anything, the ball swings to the other side to try the same thing. Thibs' offense has a lot of triangle like moves in it.

I'm not sure "inside out" is necessarily equivalent to "post play". Penetration from the guard (ie. Rose, Nate) then swinging it back out is also "inside out".
