You would think he would have alerted at least one of the teams that they are eliminated, seriously, get over yourself Melo.

So now Leon is using that Max offer to now gain an increase in the contract the Knicks offered. Knicks are most likely offering between 100-110 mill and melo and Leon want 110-120 mill. wasn't it already comfirmed Knicks offered the max?

Even if the Max has been offered, and Melo doesn't want the full Max, Leon might want it. In fact I'm sure he does

Melo might want to take $1M less (just putting a number in there) and Phil may want $3M less, and they're negotiating over that. If Melo has already rejected taking full Max with New York, there's still room to negotiate over what that number will end up being.

Look at it this way.

Option A is Kobe Max in New York and neither side really wants this.

Option B is a non-Kobe Max in New York and both sides want this but he question is how much less.

Option C is the Lakers' full Max.

A is out but Melo could say I'd rather take Option C over Phil's version of Option B, but I (Melo) prefer my version of Option B over Option C. So take my version of Option B or I'll take Option C. Then Phil revises his version of Option B, trying to beat Option C.

Complex in a way but actually quite clear. Melo wants to take less to help the team, but still more than Phil wants him to take. Lakers have to be in there for Melo (real or bluff) to get the Option B contract amount up.

Could Leon just take Option A? I guess, but Melo may have already ruled that out. All that talk about "recruiting stars if Melo is around" ... well that's code for "You need to take less to get those stars here Melo." Then they fight about what that less really is, with the Lakers providing an alternative for Rose to use.

Now he will take full max and we'll all be relieved and be ok with it because he re-signed and didn't bail.

Pretty sure that isn't going to work on some of us.

Don't want him at super max for this team at this time. I'm sticking to that. Wouldn't go above 20mill per. Hope for a 7.5 decrease in year two so we can sign gasol and maybe have a run at another quality starter.

But what about the law firm dude in Chicago?

The law firm dude in Chicago is a mail room guy. Who are you going to believe?

Hey, come in peace. Right now we are getting bombarded with rumors from questionable posters. However, the law firm rumor was from a solid poster. Obviously your a mod so your rep. is rock solid, but just wanted to check in and let you know.

Crazy times huh? Kind of fun :D and also stressful :banghead:

Gotta wonder if Carmelo is pressuring Phil to improve team. If Phil talks a big talk he may want to see something. Lebrun is apparently pressuring pat. Maybe melo doing the same

It's sad was losing has done to us Knick fan's that we are panicking over a guy who has lost as much as our team, this isn't Lebron we are or might lose people, it's Melo the guy who has passed the second round of the playoffs twice, twice!

I don't know anything about it, and we have so many so called "sources" on our board that I wouldn't put any faith into it. Even "legit" nba peeps are coming out with conflicting reports. But apparently one guy, BullsLas, said that we might offload Boozer to Utah.

What happened to recruiting Pau for the Knicks? None of this **** makes sense. Some of these reports have to be false. Where is underwear man? I'll take anything at this point.

Can we at least confirm that he's not hanging out with Justin Bieber in LA? Because that would change things.

there's no way he'd be that unware about this situation. the hotflashes gave riley a record, 55 million in capspace to do just that. phil's got his hands tied and won't be able to do much about it till next season.

I don't even think it's a matter of Melo and Phil disagreeing on how much less he should take or whether he should take the full MAX, I think it's a matter of making it look better when Melo chooses NY.

Right now the media has painted it as: Melo only stays in NY to get the most money. But if you factor in that LA is offering a lot of money AND he rejects that, he looks better because he turned down the team that was offering more money than anyone besides NY. Like him turning down the Bulls looks like he's turning them down because he'd have to a (major) paycut, but by turning LA and Chicago down makes it seem like money was less of the issue.
