Derrick might not be comfortable recruiting or might be socially awkward, but if I'm Melo and I walk into the Bulls pitch and Rose isn't there.. Then that bugs me..

I agree with you, but then the FO has to tell Derrick to be there too. It really is that simple. If they allow both Noah and Taj to be there, but don't tell Rose to go, then they dropped the ball.

Exactly. This meeting is a way for him to say to the fans, "Look, I realize it might not be all about me after these injuries. I know we need more help, and I'm going to do my best to get that."

I think Rose should jump out of a big "Welcome to Chicago!" cake holding an actual Rose in his mouth. He should then present the rose along with a bag of marsh mellows to Melo before retiring to Thibs' office to sit by the fire roasting their marsh mellows talking of potential times ahead.

If melo needs rose to stroke his ego we don't need to shell out 20 mil for the guy. If he wants to win he comes here. If he's comfy in ny it has nothing to do with rose or the "pitch". I don't see Tim Duncan recruiting guys.
