Would the Lakers have any reason to do a sign and trade with us?

Why would they do a sign and trade if they can sign him outright?

KnicksGod wrote:A couple hours ago, I wasn't advocating an idea strongly. I was just presenting a possible hypothesis. But having read the latest reports of this, I'm ready to take a side.

A source close to Anthony told the Daily News that no decision would be made Saturday, but the seven-time All-Star owns a home in the Los Angeles area and the Lakers would give him the chance to play alongside his good friend Kobe Bryant.

In the above from Isola, he is using a dirty little journalist trick of linking two ideas together in the same sentence, so they seem to imply an outcome, but not actually coming right out and expressly connecting them or making a prediction. 'No decision will be made just yet, but he loves the idea of playing in Los Angeles.'

Isola, besides hating his life and being highly biased, has admitted that he has ties to Leon Rose. They're both from Philadelphia. He also hates Dolan, and everybody thinks Dolan is going to fold with some pressure applied. And even if Dolan doesn't get involved, Phil is not an experienced GM. So they're pressuring both of them.

Can't find it but there's another quote someone posted about Kobe putting it over the top for Melo, because of how much he respects him. But in fact, Kobe helps Melo get neither of his big 2 things: Money or a title. Respect for Kobe is not drawing Melo to the Lakers.

MY CONCLUSION: They're bargaining over the final terms of the deal and using LAL for leverage.

MY PREDICTION: For better or worse, Melo agree to a 5-year deal with the Knicks between $110M and $125M by Monday night.

I concur. I think he stays but if he leaves it's not the end of the world

I wonder if a Youtube video of someone doing the Shmurda Dance in an 8 Ball jacket would cause the internet to break?

This is why I don't think LeBron is leaving. Wade and Bosh opted out almost solely to get him to come back, they probably wouldn't have done it without some sort of promise from him. Especially Wade, he's not getting a max on the free market. That would be super cold-blooded for LeBron to leave. Bosh would bounce too and Wade would be left on a team with little chance of contending AND less money.

Nah, you don't put your 40 million dollar contract off on a promise.

I agree but considering they're tight I don't think LeBron would do him dirty like that. As others have said, I think this is a smokescreen to put some pressure on Miami to make moves.

Then it was a bad plan.

I thought the Heat weren't gonna sign anyone even if the big 3 restructured at the start of free agency.
But they didn't even go back under contract and expected top level players to come over.

Now they're left with a pool of Anthony Morrows and Jordan Farmars.

The Heat are finished in my opinion.

No more Lil' Brons and Lil' Wades playdates if he actually bolts, might turn into some MJ/Isiah-type beefing.

Finished might be a little strong only because of how bad the east is..as long as Lebron stats they're gonna be in the finals

You really think even if Lebron stayed.

Cole/Napier
Wade/Morrow
Lebron/Ennis
Bosh
Andersen

They would go to the finals? You realize Wade needs surgery again right?
