Original Smith trade never close to happening according to Jason Jones (Kings beatwriter). Though says Kings are still in the market for a shot-blocking/interior defender at PF. Which fits Smith to a tee.

I guess it may come down to whether Thomas wants to sign here or not.

Only way IT signs here is if Melo stays with the Knicks and Lebron leaves Miami.

Even if he doesn't want to play here, can he afford to leave 6 million on the table because its not his preference?

If Melo goes to LAL , they don't have the cap space to offer him more than 8 and anything less SAC probably just matches. If Lebron stays in miami, Bosh and wAde would have to go else where if they wanted to add IT. IT simply comes down to will IT take a discount or will another team who's targeting him make a bigger offer or will Kings stretch a player(highly unlikely)

Thats it, Our best shot at getting him is if Melo signs in LA. Lakers wouldnt give him the same offer we are with how gutted out theyre roster is. I just want this to happen more so because of the potential sign and trade with shipping Smith out then the fact of just getting I.T.

HAHA, this is such a true statement. i think the majority of this board hasn't even watch IT up to thi spoint they jsut hate Smith so much. Fact is if Moose's camp makes a move first and its a better offer, then Smith is probably on this team and IT.

That's a fair point... In the case where Monroe receives a s&t svg would have to either comit to Smith or have another starting of lined up...
