Why does it take lebron James to get "suns fans" out from lurking and not one of the most fun seasons in a long time?

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

If the Suns strike out on the big names I'd like them to bring back Frye and Tucker on Nick Collison type deals and try again next year.

Exactly just overpay guys on 1 year deals and try again next year.
Don't invest In slighty above upgrades for 2-3 years.

My post was more about keeping solid role players long term but front loading the bonuses so after the first year their salary drops below market value.

I didn't know that in order to be a Suns fan you had to be an active member of a forum? It shouldn't matter when someone starts posting and stops lurking. We are all here because we are fans and want to share our thoughts and opinions with other fans. I respect your opinion but I don't think there was any reason to post something like that and automatically assume people aren't true Suns fans because of when they started posting. No hard feelings though. Thanks for accepting us with open arms! I look forward to some good discussions in the future

Would we be in the same situation next year? I mean, would we still be able to go over the cap by using it on other FA's first and still be able to go over it by extending Dragic? Something about bird rights, right? Or no?

LeBron and depth. But the good thing is that we could keep our depth and get LeBron and someone like Deng if we wanted. I'm not a huge Deng fan, but he is an asset if you have him for a potential Love trade. You can bet your ass McD has told Deng we could sign him for $10-$12 if we get LeBron. There is a reason guys like Deng and Pau haven't signed yet. We really wouldn't have a need for Deng with LeBron other than to give us more ammunition for a Love trade, but once you max out your cap space sometimes it's better to have more trade pieces than less.

But if we miss out on LeBron, I wouldn't sign Deng or any of the higher salary guys and would just hold our cap space to sign young guys that could flourish with Hornacek or just allow us to absorb contracts to pick up assets if need be...or just have more flexibility going forward.

No, the cap hold on Bledsoe is small because he is on a rookie deal, so if we sign him to a big deal, it takes up our space. Also, Dragic's cap hold will be much bigger, and we won't have any cap space next summer if we keep everyone.

The Suns would have less cap space but should still be able to manage a max contract. Dragic's cap hold will be less than the contract he is likely to get.

Well I believe we have to spend regardless. There is a certain percentage a team has to spend. I believe a team must spend 90% of available cap space. So there would have to some big signings.

The salary floor is soft just like the cap. A team can be below the salary floor(and some were this past season) and there is no penalty, all that happens is the team has to split the difference between the salary floor and the roster payroll among the players on the roster.

Dallas is like 2 steps away from rebuild. That's not an intimidating roster. It's a mixture of ancient star players and role players. Cuban is delusional if he thinks that is a championship quality team. All I can say, for once thank you suns management for picking a great GM otherwise blanks would have kept us in the same type of mess as the Mavs.

Mavs are just good enough to make the playoffs but not good enough to make any noise.

"The Suns can quickly shed $10 million more in contracts to pursue James and a second star – perhaps Bosh, if James wanted – and they'd still be able to keep the talented core of Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic and center Miles Plumlee." Yahoo! Sports

Yahoo keeps reporting that Suns could easily/quickly shed $10 million in salary if we get an LBJ+1 commitment. It looks like we must have some trades in place for this contingency. Probably for the Morri and Green or Len. Maybe leaked this info on the condition that terms and partner(s) remain undisclosed.

Guessing this has been discussed at some point. But what teams would you assume are on the other end of this transaction? How likely is this scenario?

Guessing PHI for the Morri. Just because it makes some sense.

I am a sporadic poster at best here at RealGM. A lot of these people are on here daily 365. They are a little protective and have the right to be so. They represent the salt-of-the-earth-planet-orange-all-in-fans that I like to associate with!
