I'm all about SVG

Post#1 » by paQo the BAWSER » Sat Jul 5, 2014 11:52 pm

Right now I absolutely trust in SVG, I don't care if we re-sign Monroe (everybody here know my opinion about Monroe), if we keep Jennings, if we keep Monroe and Smith... Even if we sign Evan Turner for a max contract

I'm going to trust in SVG and judge him at the end of the season, but at this moment I don't care about the moves he does because I think he really wants to build this team for be a winning team, and I think he knows how to do it.

If we gave Evan Turner a max contract, SVG needs to be committed to a mental health facility. That would be obscene.

This is how I feel about Gordon Hayward. Why are they talking about a max contract for him?

I assume it's due to the debate from a couple years ago on whether or not he's as good as Paul George, or better. People still assume that with a better coach and system he will flourish. I am not one of those people.

Evan Turner getting more than 10 mil a year is a joke. If we gave him the max I'd finally lose my mind.

Lol...how easily threads can be turned!

I'm all for trusting SVG. I imagine he's watched more film than anyone on this site.

He was our blockbuster move this off-season and I can't wait to see how we perform next season

I totally agree with that. I feel so blessed that SVG took control of our organization, and I renewed a bit of faith in Gores for securing that deal.

I was simply commenting on the posters comment about being okay with giving Evan Turner a max....some things are hard to joke about, knowing our team's contractual history.

I understood where you were coming from...and we should all fear the overpaying of poor fits.

Look at how some reacted to Meeks contract! It's almost ingrained in us to doubt even reasonable deals!

That said SVG has been aggressive without overplaying his hand - a fine line to walk

Outside of Melo or Lebron leaving their current teams, I rank Stan coming here as the biggest/most impactful "move" off the off-season, or second behind the Cleveland lotto win.

No loyalty oath for me. I like the SVG hire but it doesn't mean his moves are beyond reproach.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I would hope that SVG loyalists would still question the moves he makes

As someone who wanted him hired:

My fandom of SVG doesn't change how I view the game of basketball or alter my beliefs on team building, management, structure etc

IF he makes moves that go against those beliefs you can bet I'll post about it
