Melo has been living in LA for quite some time now.
I think thats where he normally lives during the off-season.

I'm getting an "it rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again" vibe from that picture. You never know what skeletons these LA owners have in their closets.

If this dude talked about taking less possibly to help make NY a contender and then goes West to play with 50 yr old Kobe and 45 yr old Gasol then he was never serious about winning. I'd love to hear Boeheim's opinion on this because he's a smart guy and talks to Melo alot, no way he's thinking this is a smart move.
Chicago, I get, even though he's gambling on Rose staying healthy (huge gamble) and has to take alot less unless he doesn't care about losing Taj Gibson but LA literally makes zero sense unless a Lebron bombshell is incoming.

Phil is not a real Knicks exec. He is a Lakers mole just like Jerry West was with the Grizzlies.
News flash: Phil's WIFE is the OWNER OF THE LAKERS.
Melo to LA for nothing, Phil retires within 12 months
The Grizzlies received the rights to their current franchise player in return though. If what you are saying is true a lot of folks will be happy to receive a franchise player in return for Melo.

Don't let Leon win. It's the general principle.
If it's not a bluff, cool. Bye. Melo wants the 5th year though. That's a 27M insurance policy to a 35 year old.
Take it soon or see you in LA.

LeBron could explain it yes but no money for him.
You get the feeling that if we had room, Bron would come unless he's just afraid of NYC. If so .... Good job Walsh and Grunwald with some more stupid moves to kill us even further. Like shooting a corpse.
KnicksGod wrote:Agree that if Melo goes to LA it's some nebulous combination of money, fame and being over the Knicks.
There's really no basketball reason to do so. Basically it's just a big market that's not New York. No other purpose that I can see. They don't even have a coach.
I like Melo but if I'm wrong and he's this ridiculous then who wants him -- not me -- it'd be more fun watching Phil build a roster and real team from the ground up.
At some point you have to consider something a character test. Melo needs to make changes to win a title folks. So wanting LA here, if real and I don't think it is, would tell you he's not up for the challenge. Just wants money and a new easy path to end his career.

Lol that team sucks. Might as well stay in New York

Bulls make more sense though. They're top heavy but if he just thinks they have a great coach and Rose will be back strong, at least it's plausible -- just not worth a salary loss to gamble. Lakers don't make sense really. Not for basketball reasons.
Melo has topped out on his "branding" -- he's not as good as Bron or that close. He's 30. The only thing that can elevate him is a title.

And THAT may well be the key to Melo staying in NY. That, and the fact that Nash is finished and Kobe is old and fragile. Why go to LA when Kobe is by no means what he once was, and might even spend more time in a three piece suit on the bench than in a b-ball uniform?
