Then why not do that at the draft? It makes even less sense now to deal him there imo.

I think that any "Melo to the Lakers" scenario would include Kevin Love joining him there, if not this summer or at the trade deadline, then certainly next summer ...

Kobe is on the hook for $25M next year. If Melo went there, he would be at $24M. Not sure how much Gasol will get to re-sign. $7M? If Melo goes there for the deal and team being proposed, the Lakers can't sign him and I don't think they have the trade assets to get it done either. It would have to be a pretty convoluted deal with Nash being sign and traded or something. I highly doubt that Minnesota would agree.

Yeah, Kobe's last year at $25 million is probably the biggest obstacle for that deal to happen next summer ... Can they do it this summer? Something like Nick Young (S&T), Julius Randle and fillers?

Noah probably sold him on Thibs. It was THIBS WHO WENT ON THE LIMO BUS TO PICK HIM! IT WAS THIBS WHO RAN THE PITCH.

Oh snap, totally forgot about that. Our chances are very good.

Edit: No, Noah approached Melo first and made the pitch during ASB, but Melo did spend time in the Bulls locker room after that one game so I don't know.....

Some rumors were that the whole Noah/Melo thing started cause Melo was asking Jo what it was like to play for Thibs. It probably was a bit of innocent convo that Noah took the opportunity and turned it into a pitch.

Chicago is without question where he needs to go if he wants to win. Anything els makes him look like liar. This forum should go dark until he decides. :P

Minn is still looking for the best deal, and the one above could not work, until after the moratorium, since they would be sending back a S&T player. Even if Minn finds, and takes, a better offer, Love can walk next summer, and go where he chooses, like I mention in my 1st post. His top choice has always be LA.

I don't know about everyone else, but the reports going AGAINST us in the Melo sweepstakes is actually more encouraging than reports FOR us. We all remember 2010, so don't be discouraged. I still have optimism.

If melo wants the money then both of these two teams would be a great fit for him, but considering what the west looks like, even with melo on the lakers, it'd still be an up hill battle for them. As far as the knicks go, it's almost annoying how much "mind control" Phil Jackson has over almost everyone . The reality about NY is that they have no pieces to win at all this year, and are hoping and praying they land a big name FA next year.

IMO if melo goes to either of these places, it'll be just another mistake.

Agreed. The Lakers organization is in shambles with Jim Buss in charge. Just.....not the same. As for New York, Dolan is still the problem and will eventually overpower Phil Jackson.

LAKERS 2 hours BULLS 9 Hours

IMO....2 hours an having a couple phone calls with Kobe wont change his mind that LA is still in the West.

Kobe hasn't played in a year an is like 40 years with all the games an minutes he has played.
Pau has a couple years left
Randle is a rookie...a good one though

They wont win anything next year. Their title window is like 1-2 years mmmmaybe

Oh well, real head scratcher. I love how most stories have Chicago in it right now but then none of them go into the Chicago angle. Its like a conspiracy theorist's dream.

I really haven't seen anything that changes my opinion. 30% for Chicago. NY is in the lead. Maybe LA has replaced Houston. Most of the news of the past 2 days isn't really news. Its just attention whores attention whoring.

The Bulls angle isn't explored because no one in our FO likes to talk to the media. We are tight lipped and wary of the media it seems.

Even if Melo's interest in LA is real, I still think its a positive development. It means his surety of returning to NY is that much less. And I'd rather have it be between LA and us, than NY and us tbh.

People know we are a huge threat....so they try to go at us. ESPN NY an LA are deff not going to be talking about how Melo would be a great fit in Chicago. Bulls are right in this guys.

If we weren't...Im sure our FO an Thibs would know or have a sense of it at least.

Bulls are playing all their cards for Melo....we are 100% ALL IN. Our first pitch was keeping Taj, Melo take less money but if theres ways to get Melo his 20mil while keeping the team in tact...Im sure Melo would love that idea.

I think you hit on it. they now have the top three sports markets involved: LA, NY, Chicago. Follow the money.

People underestimate Houston. They are the 4th largest market. This Melodrama is ESPN's dream.

I don't think city size correlates to media market size. Houston is the 4th largest city, but I think the celtics might beat them on media market size.
