Re: The Lance Stephenson Thread
I"m still surprised Lance has not been scheduled for a visit, not even as a hedge against Hayward not signing or the Jazz matching or the Jazz asking too much in a sign & trade. There are many things that could backfire unless Charlotte has been working hard on Hayward.

I think Utah will match whatever offer Hayward gets. I don't know what the deal is with Lance, even if we are waiting on prices to come down we could meet with him at least.

Re: The Lance Stephenson Thread
Maybe Lance really was the catalyst for Indy's late-season death spiral and word has slowly but surely spread throughout the league? Nobody seems keen to offer him big bucks, or even token meetings, and Indiana continues to sign role players left and right seemingly ambivalent about whether he stays or goes. He's just 23 and has loads of talent, I figured at least one team would take the plunge. It's not like ridiculous chances are unheard of in this league.

He's crazier than JR Smith

FWIW, Zach Lowe is pretty connected and he seems puzzled Lance hasn't gotten a bigger offer yet. He said the league has signed much crazier to bigger deals.

The reason Stephenson hasn't got any offers is because of his behavior during the Eastern Conf Championships.
Enough said.

True, but take a guy like Dennis Rodman who is crazier than all three. He won a few championships. What you need is a few strong role models on your team to equate the situation. With all due respects to the Indian Pacers, I don't think they had that, but I think we do. We are going to be the crazy ones not to sign him because this will get us past the first round of the playoffs, while weakening the Indian Pacers.

It could just be his agent playing musical chairs. He knows there are numerous teams courting Carmelo Anthony but only one where he will ultimately decide to play, leaving numerous teams with cap space to start a bidding war for Lance Stephenson. Carmelo going back to NYK would be the best thing for Lance because NYK are probably not as interested in Lance as the Bulls or Lakers. If Miami breaks up the Rockets will move on Bosh whereas the Bulls and Lakers already have their PF spot settled. If Lance's agent can get the Hornets + Lakers + Bulls all bidding then he has something. Lance is being slowed by the Melo market mainly imo.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Deng will be the plan B for teams that miss out on Melo.
Lance is going to be signed, but not for what he or his agent think he will be worth.

Now that Hairston has became a bigger uncertainty than just being a rookie we might need to get a move on the sense of urgency to land Lance.

Amen, the only way I'd be happy with signing Hayward is if we were able to bring in another big free agent alongside him. The only assets we should give up for Hayward are Henderson and Zeller/future 1st.

Both Lance + Hayward are better than what we have so I don't understand why fans are being so picky and needing to bash one or the other. I hope we get both of them.

Because one of them shot 40% on one of the worst teams last year, the other shot 50%, led the league in triple doubles, and had his team in the eastern conference finals. The difference between those two players is colossal. I would rather keep Henderson than blow a bunch of money on a guy who is hardly if any better than him.

Hayward's shot when right makes him a legit range shooter. If the Hornets scouts see the glitch and can fix it then that obviously factors into their interest and I trust they think they can fix it and make it more consistent so that he hits over 40% of his 3's like he did when he played alongside Al Jefferson in 2012-2013. The upside in Hayward's long range shooting is there and it's tough to ignore. It's unusual for that sort of thing happen to a player after years of experience in the league and the repetition that comes along with it. Something is off, but since the Hornets have him scheduled as their first major visit, I'm betting they think they can bring him back to reach his upside. Gordon Hayward circa 2012-2013 does it all. It's their call and their money so if they ink him, I won't be crying.

He shot 30% from the 3 last season. We have a guy to do that his name is Henderson. I just dont want them to overpay for a average player because thats what I see him as. Lance has potential to be one of the best players in the league because of his ability to make plays for others.

Look man he's their first invite. And you and I both know they see that he shot 30% from 3 in one season. What I"m saying is their eyeballing the season just before where he shot over 40% from 3. They have to be weighing his most recent season with Jefferson more heavily or else they would not bother targeting him as their first free agent meeting. You just have to look at it from their perspective. If they were fixated on the single season of 30% where there was a glitch in his shot, they wouldn't bother to bring him in. So they don't see things your way and I hope they're right because I'd love to have a complete player on offense and it's not my money. Considering the significant amount they may offer, I trust they're going to be thorough in their analysis of him. My gut tells me they grasp the mechanics on the tape and feel confident. Put it this way, there's a better chance of Hayward returning to his 40% than MKG hitting double digit 3's all season. Last year he hit 9 total. Yet they continue to make every attempt to fix his shot. Gordon seems a much more viable project based on track record alone.

Lance is an upgrade over Hendo talent wise, and Hayward would be the same at the right price.
Neither of them can replicate what MKG does defensively, although Lance is no slouch.

I respectably disagree. I will not be happy if they sign him. If your happy with 40ish wins every season then by all means lets get Hayward but im not. I suffered enough watching the 2011/12 season its time to make some noise in the NBA.
