Re: Melo 17: Death or Glory
I don't think he is delaying any announcement- he said before free agency even started that he wouldn't announce it until the second week of July. Which either starts today or tomorrow depending on how you like to look at your calendar.
Originally I was pretty confident we had him. But even with this LA talk recently, I am pretty sure he is staying in NY. I don't care who you are, we as fans can't even comprehend making $65 mil in a lifetime, let alone signing with another team, moving your family and leaving that much money on the table.

Okay Brand, Michael Jackson didn't come over to my house to use the bathroom. But his sister did.

On 4th of July weekend for no good reason? I'm all for taking a free flight somewhere for kicks on a weekday when I'd otherwise have to be at work, but when you could be at home doing it over email on a weekend?
Yes all the time. Over holidays, weekends, or whatever. Not always your choice.

I don't remember a lawyer rumor involving LeBron in 2010. I remember the real estate/house searching stuff, which is a common bogus rumor during big free agent offseasons.
I am skeptical that a free agent would show his hand in any way before he announces his future, but I'm not skeptical that a regular poster would make up information about it (that was also backed up immeidately by somebody else). It's an interesting rumor. I can't believe Boogey is actually milking it though on Facebook and Twitter.

So that makes even less sense then?
He's wrong. The OP was about attorney's not accountants.Bluewaterheaven wrote:
Hey guys. So I just want to give you a piece of info I just heard. Last year I interned at Steptoe Johnson, a very large global law firm. I still keep up with some people there. A few of the senior partners are season ticket holders, and also do a lot of work with InCapital, which is owned by Tom Rickett, the Cubs owner. Anyway, word is, in the office, Melo's attorney's are heading into Chicago tomorrow. That is all I got.
Ahh ****. Did I just make up accountants? I swore I read that. Maybe the second guy that basically corroborated the story said accountants. At any rate, thanks for clearing that up.
I've been saying accountants in multiple posts, no one had even corrected me. Spreading more misinformation than there already is out there.

I like Gabe's, Harvey Specter character better. But TGW was in Chicago so you have a point. But I liked the first two seasons of Suits, a lot...... and Harvey is Michael Jordan's buddy and agent and a Bulls fan in that show He even got in a Jordan vs. Lebron argument on the show with Mike Ross.
Love Both Shows.
I Remember one Ep where Will wanted to be Derrick Rose's lawyer.

Chicago can pay Melo his full max though in a sign-and-trade scenario. They can't give him the extra year of $29 million, but Melo would only be leaving about $6.5 million on the table if he signed with Chicago for the full max, opted out in three years, and signed another max deal.
If Melo's going back to New York for the five year deal, I get it somewhat, but it would strike me as lazy. There are ways to get it done. If you're talking about leaving $6.5 million on the table over the next five years, that's easily money that can be made up through endorsements.

I am not going to pretend to be a cap expert, but I would imagine you sign one, and S&T for the other. Or S&T for both.
Probably deal Julius Randle + Nash in a S&T to dump some major $$$ using Randle as the bait.
Or
Miami swoops in, pushes Bosh out and you are looking at Melo Max/ Lebron Max/ Wade reduced salary / and 1 other signing...

Re: Melo 17: Death or Glory
Only thing making me optimistic is when you Couple the fact that both LA and NYK have thrown the max at him and he hasn't committed..
With the fact that the Bulls have virtually done nothing since the meeting..
I don't think the bulls would sit on their hands for this long if they didn't have a pulse on this...haven't the rockets and mavs moved on already??

Why would his accountants come to Chicago? Don't they have quicken, excel and email?
Yeah because people dont travel for business all the time when they could do over email. Not saying they are but this argument is silly.
Typically for a reason and during the week. Accounts travel all the time to conduct audits and inspect paperwork. The Bulls would make them an offer. They aren't going to count all of JR's beans.

The Bulls FO have been very quiet after the Gasol meeting. Riley is busy meeting Deng yesterday ...that shows business is going on. The Bulls are hopefully busy in some kind of complex negotiations.

Re: Melo 17: Death or Glory
The Lebron/Carmelo to LA stuff is even more far fetched than the Miami big 4. First of all, the money would be about the same but there's only Lebron and Melo instead of Lebron/Melo/Wade/Bosh, and they'd be in the Western Conference instead of the East.. Who wants to play with Kobe at this stage of his career hogging up all that money? Makes no sense. If Carmelo and Lebron were to team up, it won't be in L.A.

Stephen A basically advertising nothing will be said until tomorrow. Another dude asked him about Carmelo straight up and he said you'll see tomorrow.

I dislike Stephan A. sometimes because he won't critisize many players because they are all "his boys". On the flip side, I think this is what makes him relatively accurate with his inside info.

Re: Melo 17: Death or Glory
only way I see Lebron/Melo teaming up is if Melo stays with the Knicks and Lebron stays in Miami for 1 year than goes to NY in 2015 (Shumpert & Pablo likely be traded for more cap space ) especially since doesn't look like Anthony has Miami on his radar (letting Bosh walk to Houston it could easily happen in Miami)

I'm willing to bet FO already has multiple deals lined up in the event melo says no..one of which I would assume is a quick trigger on trading for k love.
Would you guys rather have ariza or lance?
