The issue is that on the Bulls a rookie 2nd rounder is not going to come in to score, not anymore than Tony Snell was, who was the guy ahead of Cameron on offense just 2 years ago.

He's going to have to defend and rebound first primarily to stay on the floor for the Bulls. Time for Thibs specialty to payoff.

i don't think whether he players or not will depend on his ability to defend. defense is expected on this team but i don't think him being a below average defender would prevent him from playing. physically he's ready and he was one of the more physical players in this draft class, certainly one of the most physical players i saw in college last yr. whether he can keep up with quick bigs and defend in space are the big question marks, but i'm not gonna question his effort level or ability to make the opposition work. for however long he's on the floor, it's not gonna be a cakewalk for whoever is matched up with him because of how rugged he is. also, i'm not sure how the rest of his offensive game will translate but i think thibs could count on his ability to hit mid-range J's from day one. he's an immediate pick n pop threat.

He should be good in the post defensively, but questionable in the scramble PnR like Noah and Taj have to do.

If he can give us short stints like Kurt Thomas did that would be great. But the refs let him get away with a lot of physicality due to being a vet.

Well if Bairstow keeps pounding it home that he's going to be aggressive then eventually refs will be like this is just how he plays.

Really like how he gets to the FT line. Would be nice if when he plays, the Bulls get him the ball and he continues to draw fouls at the NBA level. Last year he was 4th in the country in FTA (8.8 / gm) and during his international play 5.2 FTA/ 20 min.

One other tidbit - He works out after games in the weight room in his uniform.
TGibson (1/28/17); "..."a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 for drama"...What's the worst? "...yelling matches with Thibs, everybody is just going crazy and I'm just sitting there...like, 'Don't call my name please..."

For a big, he is a really good free throw shooter.

Too bad he is going to NY in a trade for Melo.

I like what i see from Bairstow. Knicks going to be a team made up of late first rounders and 2nd round players lol.

Amare/Alrich/Dalembert
Tyler/Early/Bairstow
Mcd/Early/Antedempljklopko
Shumpert/Hardaway Jr
Calderon/Larkin

If Amare can play 28 + mpg... He'll probably average 50 ppg lol. Thats a pretty good tank squad.

You won't end up with McDermott or Bairstow.

Bairstow's highlight videos makes him seem like a future Boozer to me. Like 2010-11 Boozer

Even though he doesn't seem completely useless, he won't see time. I wish him the best in his endeavors.

Unfortunately, in our league he will be targeted by officials as a foul guy. They won't let him on the court long enough to be effective.

the nba allows physical play on the interior which is where he'll be.

I think he will be picked on because of his build and stature. If he gets anywhere near a guy a foul will be called.

there are plenty of guys in the nba built like him who aren't foul magnets. you expect him to be a foul magnet because he happens to be strong and physical? the college game changed the rules to allow less contact, less than the NBA does and yet he only averaged 2 and half fouls per 40, despite being one of the most physical players in the country. i don't get where you're coming from.

That is because he didn't play defense except help side. His skin color will unfortunately be a component as well. You just don't see too many guys like him being successful.

This guy was freaking jacked at New Mexico, he looks a bit smaller next to McBuckets.

He has a nice mix of moves with either hand.

Return to Chicago Bulls
