He is. The dogs are his accountants.

Found a picture of one of Melo's attorneys leaving a prestigious downtown law firm in Chicago just minutes ago. Makes sense why they had to get that early morning grooming session in earlier today. Gotta look good for the big meeting.

Ha Miami, no chance at Melo. I'd bet Bosh opted out so Riley couldn't trade him.

Still feel like a S&T to the Bulls for the most they can clear via trade makes the most sense.

However, due to reports, I'm left to feeling that we are in distant third behind the Knicks and Lakers.

The leader in revenue can afford to pay whatever it takes to get Bron and Melo.

Once again...this isn't the nfl. You can't just stretch contracts out or change the terms after the fact. Otherwise the Bulls would do the same with their players.

Sure you can. You don't keep the player but you clear a lot of the deal off the books. Kobe's 2 years would be broken into 5. Nash's 1 year into 3.

We kind of refer to this as the Eddy Curry Rule.

In the NBA labor deal is what is called the “stretch provision,” which will help teams get rid of underperforming players on big deals. It can only be used on new contracts but here is how it works: If you want to get rid of a player you can buy him out then stretch out his contract on your books for double the length of the deal plus one year. For example, if a player is owed $20 million over two seasons and he gets waived, the team can stretch him out so his deal so on the official salary cap ledger he only costs them $4 million a season for five seasons.

I honestly think we find out tomorrow. We should've heard something by now if it was today.

He really did. Kobe is one of the best of all time and I would hate to see his career fizzle into less than mediocrity. Maybe he doesn't.. not likely. Tough injury to come back from at his age. It would be historical if he was anything close to what he was, factoring age and the injury

I think the amnesty provision was a stupid rule. In that It shouldn't even be limited. What is the benefit of this? If an owner wants to pay a player out to go away, it SHOULD come off the cap, always. Why not? If I want to pay you the entirety of your contract to NOT play, why should that not come off the cap... and if it doesn't, we don't need no freakin amnesty.

edit- I got way OT there but I was thinking about Kobe and the Lakers and if he isn't able to come back strong. You know the Lakers would just give him the money if it came off the cap.. have a huge retirement and Kobe can gracefully exit well paid for what he did. The franchise doesn't get hung. Same thing goes for the Bulls if Rose keeps getting hurt. For another thread, another day, though.

From the beginning, Melo's camp said he would decide on Monday. One more day to wait.

I am of the opinion that if Melo were staying with NY or going to LA, we'd know by now because those teams have already offered him max deals. The fact that this is going down to the very end makes me feel like something is up regarding leverage and S&Ts.

Trust me, whatever Melo is going to do, he knows right now as we speak. Even if we don't know it yet.

Kobe would have to clear waivers to be stretched right?

I am very hopeful actually. This LA media push over the past 24 hours had just been way too strong for their not to be something more to it. The timing of it is just too impeccable. You've got a super max offer sitting out there from the Knicks, which Melo has yet to commit to. Then out of nowhere, you have LA jumping ahead of Chicago as the top threat. It just reeks of leverage to me.

Surprised nothing has come out yet. No tweets or anything regarding Melo today.
