Could help clear the cap needed to keep Lance and stay under the tax.

I doubt anyone will want him right now after the greatness he displayed in the playoffs. I would prefer letting him play a few games next season and hype up his value by feeding him the ball alot. Once a suck comes in for a trade, do it!! I don't care if we get a 3rd round pick and $7.50.

I'd imagine that gm's are a little more aware of the fact that while Hibbert has bouts of focus, he's still one of the biggest defensive game hangers in the league, and will be overly confident that Roy will put it back together in their locker room.

Yup, this would be the move necessary to put us under the tax to get Lance.

Not sure what they're hoping to get out of him though. Maybe something for Brook Lopez?

I dunno. I'm not a huge fan of trading Hibbert when his value is so low now, especially considering how close we got last year. Breaking up the core wouldn't be a great idea. I'd rather the Pacers look into trading George Hill and his awful contract.

I'd imagine there are infinitely few options to deal Hill and not get both worse and more expensive.

How about the other Lopez? Portland offered Hibbert the deal he's on now, maybe they'd take him. Lopez and Mathews for Hibbert works for me! Hell, I'll take just Lopez !

I wonder if the desire to trade Roy also stems from the trend in the League to spread the floor. Unless a guy like Roy can make the other team pay for playing small by getting easy baskets he becomes a liability. Any more most teams are equipped to play this way. That being the case can you pay a guy who in certain situations can't be on the floor the money Roy is getting?

I hope that this report is false. Our team needs Roy.

Remember, Bird had taken leave when Pritchard negotiated Roy's max contract. Would Bird have done the same thing?

Roy needs a better PG to pass him the ball and not throw it at his feet all the time. I don't know how many times I saw out passers throwing the ball at his feet. The guy is 7'2'' they expect him to get down and grab the ball there? And then go up turn and find the basket. That's why he has had so much trouble finishing. They need to throw it up and let him get it he's the tallest guy out there 99% of the time.

I think Roy's problem with finishing and offense in general has more to do with his bad hands than the passes he gets.

No way on Brook Lopez. He's hurt all the time. Maybe Robin Lopez from Portland. One rumor I saw was Robin Lopez, CJ McCollum and Thomas Robinson from Portland for Hibbert. I also saw that the Blazers signed Kaman the other day. They have a few centers now so maybe they look to upgrade the defensive side with Roy.

I like that deal it gives us a 3rd CJ, we could go out and sign CJ Fair who was undrafted and make it 4 and I think there was another one in the draft as well CJ Wilcox who went to the Clippers we should get him too.

Wouldn't losing Hibbert hurt your defense significantly? Seems like a sell low type of move to me. I would keep him if i were you.

They throw the ball and his freaking ankles all the time I'd be screaming at my TV you can't expect a guy his size to drop down get the ball come back up and find the basket and normally he's gotta turn because his back is to the basket.

I think Bird really wants to keep Lance. We are kinda in a box trading Roy is selling low, and it will hurt the D. The only other thing we can do is trade George Hill who is a home town guy and he didn't look great down the stretch himself. So if we could get a young PG on a rookie deal for Hill and get the other team to eat the salary diff we could move Hill and free up the money to sigh Lance.

The lowest risk is to let lance sign someplace like Charlotte and do and S&T for Cody Zeller and hope that lance doesn't turn into a poor mans Micheal Jordan.

I'm not ready to give up on Roy yet. The last half of the year and playoffs were bad, no doubt. But him being the anchor of the D is huge as it takes pressure of PG and the wings to work so hard on that side of the floor. If we were to give up on players after a bad stretch, I don't think that helps the team at all. And Vogel (right now anyway) isn't creative enough in the offensive end to lose such a huge defensive centerpiece. Besides, in theory, Roy's contract could be off the books next summer if he opts out or becomes much more trade able. This year, see if he can get his swagger back and then look to trade the expiring contract if things are jiving near the deadline or in the summer. Or see if he'll resign on the cheaper after he expires/opts out.

I think Roy is soft. He doesnt establish good position sometimes. There were times in the Miami series when they passed him the ball directly to the numbers or hands and he was stripped by the guy he was fronting or the pass was knocked loose. He is too big for that. He needs to get meaner like Shaq said. Knock guys back on there heels and call for the ball. Make every layup or dunk; and stop falling/flopping all over the place. I would prefer Indy kept Roy but I will say that he is at fault for a lot of his struggles instead of the other way around.

I know I am probably alone on this, but I think Roy has a lot to prove next season and will. If I were the GM of a team with young pieces needing a big man to push for the play-offs I'd trade for him without doubt. Hawks? New Orleans? Blazers? Plenty of opportunity. I reckon it would end up being a bad deal for Indiana in all cases.
Vogel is Dutch for Bird.

Stephenson and George is a core that can give you guys 4 more years of possible ECF and the chance at a finals

Without Stephenson the offense would become incredibly stale I think

I saw a lot more issues with the offense getting stale while Stephenson was making his decisions. By the time he got the ball to Roy Roy was 18 feet from the bucket where he's completely ineffective. It's no secret that he's not a motion guy. He needs to get the ball in the lane early so that he can move before the defense doubles him, or be used to set picks. Way too often Stephenson initiated the offense so late in the playclock that none of his teammates knew when he was going to get started. 4 guys standing and watching the Lance led to a ton of stale possessions. Prime examples are playoff possessions. Miami was sealing George Hill out of rebounds to ensure that Lance initiated the offense because when he did, they could get their D in place easier, and double more easily because the spacing would go to hell when D-West and Hibbert left the lane to hang out and see what Stephenson was going to do.
