Teams aren't moving heaven and earth because they know that it is very unlikely that Melo will sign with them in the first place. If Melo committed 100% to a team they would do everything in their power to make room.

I'm specifically talking about the teams he's interested in and actually have heard presentations from. the second point really no one knows, speculation at best.

The CBA doesn't dictate Melo's value. Melo's true value is probably over the max, but the amount of money he can receive is limited the CBA. Lakers offered him the much they could and probably would have offered him more if they could.

I said "market". Market is irrelevant. The price a team is willing and/or can pay is CBA influenced and has 100% determined that. 129 mil isnt Melo's market...the CBA ensured that.

Offering the max contradicts the majority of what Phil has said from team building standpoint.

You said it yourself. "Market Value" what teams are willing to pay for Melo, just because there is a limiting factor (CBA) that prevents teams from going over the limit doesn't mean he isn't worth more than that. This is basic Economics

Also Phil has literally just been saying what knicks fans want to hear. He knows he needs Melo for his system to work and is worried about what will happen if Melo leaves. Since if he leaves Phil's tenure here is doomed to fail.

i really dont think you understand, and lets use two examples to make it clearer from the same team....

Chicago 2010 was one of leBron's choices of interview......they made room to accept him prior to the meeting.

Melo 2014 Chicago was one of Melo choices of interview.....they didnt make room to come anywhere near a fair offer, so is melo's market value 15 mil to Chicago? thats why market is a term that has no place.

There's even reports that Dallas has no intention to offer any max deals....another Melo interviewer.

Do you honestly believe over half of Lebrons choices would low ball him like this? teams arent drooling over Melo at a max price.

As far as Phil goes he's actually said the opposite of fan belief, but up until the max contract offer his message has been consistent.....his goal is to build a team that can compete with or without Melo.

But even with the offer Phil is still putting it in melo's court to take less to look as a team player, basically stating taking max counters the process.
