Now i'm starting to really feel that he's gone and we are getting nothing for him in a sign and trade. I'll admit, coming into the off season I was leaning towards my preference being a sign and trade. After seeing Miami go down I was hoping to keep Melo. At the end of the day I was OK with either scenario.

You would think Melo gave up on the team last year like some of our others players by the way people talk about him.
When he really played his ass off every game for us.

It's more the fact some of us don't want to pay him the max because he's not a guy you can build around add in the years he's been in the league and minutes played in the nba and the last few years of that contract will look awful as he slows down

It's a bad move to say you'll take less money to help your team and not follow through. Period.

the truth is, he said if they brought him a plan that made sense he would take less money. what plan do they have ? they're gonna sign people next year ? that's not a plan that's a wish. he really shouldn't have said anything about his salary but for some reason he'll answer almost anything.

He messed up any plan by opting out. And I'm not taking less over the next few years because you might do something in the next few years. That's not being unselfish that's being stupid. He opted out to leave. And the big 3 opted out to try and fit "someone" in.

They can take less. That's not to say it's a players responsibility to do so or that they should.

but when a player of leflops stature it hurts all the other plyers leverage to get better contracts?. I know the lefop and the cheater defenders will say it did not hurt Melo but when the next cba comes up in another year two the owners will point it out and use as a bargaining point to keep salaries down.

I don't see a problem with it. If max cats end with lowered contracts, there will be more money for other people. And it sure means more to a guy earning 1 mil to get to 2 mil, then to a guy getting 20 mil to get 19.

not in the nba because of the mid range salaries. it would limit the pay scale across the boards and the owners will not lower the prices for the big markets. In other words the fans will not see any change. In fact it could get worse

i never understand the personal stuff. if you don't want melo because you think you can't win with him fine. but all that other stuff is kind of weird. he's a bad person because he tried to get more money ? who doesn't want more money ?

He's a bad person because he does it at the expense of the team I root for.

I question his motivation and drive to win basketball games when he has no problems using his own team as a chess piece to get what he really wants.

What do u want? He's a great scorer but he's not gonna change the fortunes of a franchise..he's a newer version of Alex English great scorer but not a guy u build around
