I can't believe I'm defending SAS but he said that Melo WANTS a no-trade. That may be accurate. Of course leaving out the fact that it isn't possible is bad on his part. Then again, the lack of concrete, informed discussion from anyone on ESPN shouldn't be a shocker to anyone.

Why would it even be a part of Melo's decision making if it isn't possible?

I don't know. I just meant that SAS parsed his words enough that what he said was technically possible. Don't know if you ever saw the movie "How to Get Ahead in Advertising"-

It may contain a pork pie...
Honesty is my only excuse.

I still can't figure out why the FO said they were 'increasingly confident' way back during the season, if they knew Melo was going to have to risk a big paycut to come.

They supposedly presented a "No Taj" option to him, but then bring Taj to the meeting, pretty much forcing Melo to kick a guy that tried to recruit him personally, off the team, and take his place if he wants close to his max. And with Taj gone anyway, the team looks a lot less attractive.

There isn't a local or national media guy saying we're still in this. That's not good. Where there's smoke there's typically fire. We're likely out of it as of now.

At the end of the day it sound like we out of the race because we don't have enough money

And obviously we not willing to part with taj to clear the money

I wouldn't part with taj without the guarantee either

Might be time to move on

At this point I am very very eager to move on but I can't really do that until the Bulls do that :'(

Melo is either going to MIA if Bosh leaves

Going to LA so his talentless, fat wife can mooch an acting career off his basketball career

Or staying in NY with his fat old contract

This is pretty much it.
Someone is going to come out with "Cred" for the next few years like SAS did--for calling the Melo situation correctly--whether they know diddly.

Guys are casting a wide net to try and cover their bases so they can say "I told you so".

Melo has been on the team for four seasons (11,12,13,14) but not full seasons so I'm not sure he qualifies but most NBA rules call any part of a year a year.

If thats the case - he's going back to NY - they're the only team he can even negotiate a no-trade. I can see why Phil wouldn't want to do that.

Would explain why it hasn't been finalized yet.

Someone is being played for a fool. Not sure who yet. But the entire media treats the Bulls as not even having made a serious offer.

Signing with LA would contradict his "winning" statement even more than resigning with the Knicks.

Who knows. It's hard to say who's screwed up what until we see the end of this story playing out. Considering Melo is willing to take this tour to possibly force New York's hand and cause other teams to move assets in the process tells me that Melo probably wouldn't lose too much sleep if the Bulls had to move Taj for him to come there. I think the Bulls brought Taj in to sell the idea of Melo taking less.

The whole 9 hours would be an exercise in ineptitude if we didn't detail his options.

Yeah, either this is the biggest smokescreen of all time or the Bulls are totally out of it.

At one point, the Bulls were definitely in it. I wonder what happened. Taj? Rose? Something front office did? Lala? $130M? Lebron? I'm sure we will spend the next 10 to 20 years discussing it.

I really hope this is the last time for the Bulls. Give up on this flexibility rollercoaster to nowhere.

50m less? Was that ever realistic.

We better have had a barebones + Taj middle plan as well to be serious, which would start him around 17 I believe.

The 15 number was never credible. Because we weren't forming the Heatles Superteam here, to be worth that sacrifice, and even when those guys took the hit, it wasn't nearly so much to them as what Melo would be leaving on the table.

Their paycut was just about cancelled altogether by Florida's lack of taxes.

That could explain the pause on NY's behalf as well, and why the situation may still be fluid.

If what SAS has been sppewing is true....then Melo is going to have to go into the same slime bucket as LeDouche for me. We never had a chance to begin with.....and Thibs should have someone break Leon Roses legs for playing him

I don't agree that there aren't signs of the Bulls moving on either. I was able to believe Melo and Pau were related, but names like Marion, Stephenson, trying to get a deal inked up with Mirotic...That seems like moving on to me.
