At some point people have to decide if they root for a player (like Chitown or MoneyMitch) or they root for a team. I root fot the team. I want our management to have maximum flexibility going forward - especially if Anthony does not buy into the triangle or prove an ideal fit within Jackson's scheme.
I'd LIKE Melo to sign without a no-trade clause
I'd LIKE his 5th season to be a team option.
I'd LIKE his starting salary to be well below his max.
ALL of these things would be beneficial to the Knicks.
But there is a market for NBA free agents that common sense dictates teams don't get to sign players to ideal scenarios, and players have leverage to demand beneficial to them and not to the team.
It seems we'd all find easy, uncontested common ground as to what we WANT.
The question to me seems what can a player demand and what is or is not a dealbreaker. Which of these clauses are you willing to let a player walk to another team over.
